Overall I was very impressed with my time at hoover mechanical they are a very professional company that are high on safety which makes you more safety conscious. I believe I wouldn't be where i am today without what this company did for me, so to anyone who wants to apply here if you work hard and show up you'll fit in just fine here. Good atmosphere great people and a good steady paycheck await you here.

Started off great and optimistic but with getting shuffled around quite frequently, sometimes hard to learn new things. 

If you live in the northern half of Calgary, expect to work in the south and vice versa. 

The weather can sometimes be pretty harsh. Try to avoid working “ground works” as the work does not reflect the pay. You came to learn how to plumb not roll in dirt. There’s civil pipe laying jobs that’ll pay you more to do exactly that. 

Basic day as a plumber, but most of their lead plumbers havent gone to school or have dropped out of their 1st period. no job security always being threatened to being fired. they say they are a family company, but are not understanding if you cant work late because your child has soccer. threaten to fire you if you dont work overtime, but you are constantly that it is optional

Working outside in the winter

First day of my work when I started job as plumber

People in office treat you like c..p ,apprentice will be on waterline till end of time training sucks and supervisors put you on farthest jobs from were you live and couldn't give a c..p about trying to organize it ,if you live in airdrie ,work in south take it or leave it kind of attitudes should be grateful for job.  .soon they won't have any workers,oh yeah have to be there for like 4 years to get invited to Christmas party or events.... 

They had a first year sheetmetal worker as foreman for hvac at a multi family building, it was actually quite embarrassing but on the bright side I got to do very easy tasks like breaking down boxes and cleaning for journeyman rate.  Although I would prefer to use the skills ive developed over the last decade doing hvac.

Highly toxic and dis-organized working environment at job sites. Unprofessional and unethical site supervisor and hiring manager. You can learn little to nothing here.90% of people working here just show up for paychecks. Please, stay away if you have dignity and care for your pluming career!

Hoover is a great place to work. I was paid fairly for the work I was doing. I was treated very well and hope I can work for them again when the economy picks back up. The bosses are very good here but if you want to start “drama” I wouldn’t recommend starting here because the supervisors won’t stand for it. They charge you less for high quality vests and hard hats then you would pay at anystore.

Never alone and unsure on the site always had support. u get a chance to learn different things from sewer water lines gas lines sprinklers fixtures and mechanical room in a heating room etc.
