Absolutely awful company, avoid at all costs. Do not waste your time with this one, its a dead end job that'll take you nowhere in life. Yet one you'll likely get fired from, for no plausible reason. 

The truly idiotic upper management within this company loves to micromanage in the worst way, setting hopelessly unrealistic expectations, then expecting people to miraculously make it happen. All the while, not allowing overtime or anything of that sort (which literally makes it entirely impossible). Problem is, there are so many issues within the company due to part shortages, or having the wrong parts in stock, or welded pieces not being built correctly, or continual modifications to existing designs: to achieve these targets is hopelessly impossible. In doing so, its not at all uncommon to be fired for not meeting upper managements targets. 

This company is honestly an ongoing revolving door. You know something is up when the department head has been there for a whopping 4 months. With its rampant disorganization, its rare to see anyone thats been there for more then 5 months. 
Essentially, its the blind leading the blind there. There is just so much turn over, nobody really knows what the heck to do anymore, its just new guys teaching other new guys what very little they know. Just unbelievable how bad it is. Honestly? take a look on Indeed as to just how many jobs they have listed, for a company of 30 people, what does that tell you? Raise any red flags?

They also screw people over on overtime, hours, and pay raises. Its not uncommon to see people that have been there past their three months, and not end up getting a raise, and missing numerous hours off your paycheck is quite common.  

I dont want to write a novel, but I literally would be here for hours typing up all the issues with working here.... All in all, please trust me when I say this, DONT WORK FOR THESE IDIOTS!!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT, I GUARANTEE YOU.

Also, the work is very unsafe, and frequently forced to lift well over 100pounds (130pounds by your self repeatedly), despite the max being only 50 pounds.. but the company was FAR too cheap to ever buy a crane, so what choice did we have?

Its been an interesting 7 months working there. For a team of 15 guys, three of them were seriously hurt, and 5 of the most senior (well trained) guys were fired for absolutely no reason whatsoever. 

Try starting a career at a company that hires kids fresh out of highschool and expecting them to perform job duties expected of electrical engineers or Millwrights, but is only willing to pay them $17-18/hr. 

You cant help but wonder as to just how much of a revolving door it is when the lead hand has been there for 4 months. People just come and go.... but given the very unsafe work environment, thats to be expected. Its not the least bit uncommon to see people struggling to lift and man-handle objects weighing in at 300-400 pounds by themselves (on pieces too heavy to have two people properly lift it)... but when the company is too cheap to buy cranes, what else can a person do? 

Diesel engines are regularly fired up in doors without adequate (or any) ventilation, Hand grinders are frequently used without shields or hand braces, so accidents involving them are all too common. 

As if all this isn't enough (in factuality its just the tip of the iceberg, Id be here for the next hour if I were to write up a detailed review), but alas if all this isn't enough, you get royally bent over in your overtime. Somehow they earnestly expect you to safely work 12-16 hour days (yes Ive worked that long, from 6am to 10pm more then a few times, which is highly against labor laws btw). But in doing so, they have their pay set up so they have to pay as little as possible for OT, or you just wont get paid at all for it... as the payroll lady frequently "Forgets".... which happens a LOT for anybody working any overtime. 

I can literally go on for hours, but I beg you to stay the heck away from this place, its absolute garbage, and a total waste of time.

Management is the worst Ive ever incountered in a work place, and Ive been working FT for about 16 years now... in a vast multitude of companies.

Working at Horizon has been a wonderful experience thus far. Being part of a company that is a leader in innovation for many industries, particularly oil and gas, is both inspiring and exciting. Before being hired here, I had worked at other jobs where I was micromanaged and given little to no opportunity to demonstrate any other skills I possessed or how I could be of greater use to the company. I can genuinely say that Horizon is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum. I am given the freedom to work independently and use my professional judgment on a daily basis, and I strongly feel that my knowledge and opinions are valued. It is a great feeling not only knowing that I can rely on other employees for their expertise and guidance, but also that they rely on me. I think a successful company focuses on teamwork, but also allows individuals the space to solve problems in their own way, and Horizon is no exception. No doubt, the work environment can be fast-paced and stressful at times, but it is also an environment that challenges your skills in a way you may never have encountered before. For me, it pushes me to strive for excellence, and each day is far from boring. I wouldn’t want it any other way. I can see the growth potential for my career at this organization, and I truly feel I am part of a company that will forever change a heavily criticized industry and province, for the better.

Filthy building is an understatement, only break you get in an 8 hour day is the unpaid lunch, the bathroom was absolutely vile, everything covered in dirt and grease as well as dust and whatever harmful things are in the air in this building, didn't even have hand soap! So disgusting! Super crazy turnover rate, u would see why after working a shift. Also to top it off, I told the manager how I felt, wasn't rude, just told him the building was dirty and I didn't feel healthy there and it wasn't the job for me, what the manager didn't know was that one of the other employees was my friend outside of the workplace, and the manager proceeded to pull everyone aside, seeing as he had to explain why I had left the company, and continued to call me a "Wussy" but with a "P" to all the employees, for being honest about the conditions. It was even difficult to do the job, tools are all old and junk, like literally broken tools you are expected to work with and not only get the job done, but done well. And as for them supplying proper PPE, it doesn't happen, in order for me to have a respirator mask I had to use an old used one found somewhere by the person supervising me, and that was all they had!

I came to HOS from a very large company and for some reason was expecting it to be the same.  It was vastly different.  I feel incredibly valued and respected here.  Yes, the days are long and there are weekends involved too, but that is at my own choosing. 

What I put into the company is what I get out, the effort and enthusiasm I bring is equally matched by everyone I interact with.

HOS empowers you to make your own decisions and does not micromanage or make you do things their way, in fact, they embrace changing the status quo which is so refreshing considering the industry.

I would highly recommend any position here, but only if you are a free-thinker and able to work without someone peering over your shoulder. As a fast growing company, you must be able to make your own decisions knowing you won't be punished for making the wrong one.  They put a lot of focus into developing their employees and I love the ability to choose how I go about completing my tasks.

If you are lucky enough to get a job here, you will probably stick around for quite some time and gain quite the skill set as well!

HOS is a fast paced growing company, and I have had so many opportunities to learn about every aspect of the business. Anyone who knows about the company's vision and strategy would be excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the journey. 

It's a hands-on, roll-up your sleeves, work as a team to get things done environment, but that's all part of the excitement. There is a strong sense of camaraderie. We all know what the company is trying to achieve, and we all know our part and value in the chain. Expectations are clearly communicated. 

Every company goes through growing pains. I've been with companies of varying sizes and in different stages of growth, and in all of them, there were always challenges. It's no different here, however, challenges aren't accepted as problems, but an opportunity to find a better solution. 

I have really enjoyed my time here so far and look forward to growing my career with this company.

I have had the pleasure of working for HOS,for approximately two years now. I came to the company with only basic tool, electrical, and inventory knowledge. They trained me and gave me the tools, I needed to exceed in the business. Horizon is a place where you get to harness your skills and polish them. I have had the opportunity to explore many sides of the business from the manufacturing floor, logistics, inventory, procurement. My opinions are heard, and I feel as though i make a contribution to the company. 

Horizon is a company I am proud to work for! We manufacture products that I believe in, and stand behind.

Since the beginning HOS created a family type atmosphere which has resulted in positive attitudes through out. Management has always been understanding if you get off track, they're always available to help get you back on. It's a big team and we all play well together!

HOS is clean energy company that promotes Eco-Friendly products. It's exciting to be around the technology that assists with their motive, while also having the opportunity to advance your career quickly.

Long hours are attached with a career at HOS, but your rewarded for it. It's nice to receive a pat on the back every now and then!

I've had the pleasure to work for HOS almost 3 years in the field with a few months in the shop at the begging of my existence. I have watched this company grow more and more and have enjoyed my time here. I have seen many people come and go but at the end of the day those who are loyal and strong for the company are those who we continue forward with. Very excited to see what the future holds for HOS and all its family members.
