Horseshoe Valley Resort

I loved working at Horseshoe Valley Resort.  Great perks with the job.  The best part of my job, was meeting all the different people every day and interacting with them.  I worked as a front desk associate and then moved to housekeeping.  We had great management.  The only frustrating part working in the housekeeping department was dealing with the shortage of linen supplies.  Working as a front desk associate was difficult for me, if I was the only one scheduled to work.  It was much more efficient if there were two of us working on front desk, in order to give excellent customer service.  I would not hesitate to return back, however I am now living in Moncton, New Brunswick and am semi retired.

Management takes complete advantage of their staff. Mentally exhausting to keep up with all the passive aggressive emails. Human Resources won't assist in multiple employee concerns, makes you feel helpless and like your only option is to leave. Unfortunate because if the management were different it would be better. The job itself is lovely but that feels like only 10% of the experience. Manipulation and power tripping methods used by Front Desk Manager. Management will not talk to you in person, only through angry emails. Absolutely against their employees giving any feedback, suggestions or having general questions. Turnover is high due to toxicity in the workplace. Very unfortunate

Staff is very friendly. There's many events

There is nothing wrong. Make sure you get everything done before you are done your shift 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Pac cleaner. Vacuum. Mopping the floors. Clean washroom. Garbage clen the shoe brew.store and ect 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day is mostly good but some day you have bad day but overall it's great work there

Interesting place to work, with many time sensitive challenges. Management is detached from field employees, but everyone works hard to work well together. On-boarding for my department was very ad-hoc, and not very structured, this left a sense of "floating" in the role from time to time. Overall experience was positive.

regular maintenance of all ski lifts, tube park and moveable walkways. Ensure all safety procedures in place to carry passengers. Had control over ski lift operations, due to weather, safety or security. Dealt with property security. Dealt with ski patrol to handle emergency situations and injuries during ski time. In charge of calling emergency evacuation of ski lift due to unforeseen malfunctions.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Management terrible.  FOH and BOH staff great people.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Micro management expectations.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The staff and patrons were great.  It was an awesome experience.  Management practices , nepotism ruined what could have been a much better experience.

I enjoyed being with the people, meeting new people and seeing faces become regulars.  It was hard to communicate with fellow staff. There was a lot of misunderstandings and complications. A typical day would be loading and unloading bags into carts. Washing, gasing up and parking carts that came in. Then at the end of the day I would lock everything up.

*they care little about employee retention (it's a revolving door of STUDENTS - only students are hired, so don't expect them to hire true professionals). 


Great team and nice management, but often we had to wait for tasks and did not have anything to do. We were also told to work in bad conditions (extreme heat, tornado warnings, storms). Overal you get lots of experience and meet a good comunity of people working for horseshoe. All staff is friendly and helpfull. 

When I worked there I worked at guest services and the management and if you love the other team members that were seasoned there acted more like a teenage popular group then coworkers and management. It makes for an uncomfortable workplace when you're just there to try to work and make friends.
