Hostelling International

No day was ever the same at hostelling international.  I dealt with people from all walks of life from all over the world and got to learn a lot of different and interesting things about many other countries and cultures.  I also dealt with customers who knew very limited English and people who were travelling alone for the first time.

I learned to work effectively as part of a team with people from very different backgrounds to myself.  I learned how to navigate RoomMaster and how to solve problems quickly.  I was lucky enough to have a great management team and positive team members.

Working here was the best working experience for me in Canada. The manager and assistant manager are both kind, respectful, funny, considerate... I could go on. They look after their staff, they recognize your good work, they’re flexible with your schedule, and they also have your back from abusing guests. 
The team was awesome. You would be talking to everyone! They can easily become your friends. The job was fun, easy, relaxing. You’d get to meet tons of new people and everyone is always in a good mood. I can’t think of anything bad from working here.

The managers are great and my co-workers were amazing to work with. I was always exited to go to work. Yes some days it was more fast paced especially in the summer because more people are travelling to Canada but you learn how to talk to people more confidently.

Accounting/payroll was primary role.

It was s small office of only 5 staff and that meant exposure to multiple tasks/experiences.  Assisting with the information request mail box expanded customer service knowledge about the global network.

Hostelling International is a gret place to work for young people. The people you meet and work with are generally fun, professional and passionate about what they do. Sometimes it feels like work becomes your life, but overall it is a great place to work.

No room for advancement. Getting to know people all over the world. Learning from managers and other colleagues as they become part of your daily activity. How it went from just colleagues to friends and some become like a family.

Managment needs professional training.  This company simply promotes from with in with no additional training. Properties need major renovation.......

Worked here peak summer time, the staff were nice but it's a quite place and doesn't offer much work to do so gets boring quickly. Also the pay is minimum wage. 

Staff were nice

All staff get along so well. A very great place to work. Managers are the best. They give you a flexible schedule that would definitely work out for you.

Busy work days in housekeeping, great atmosphere in the hostel, it is a very laid-back setting.
