I was enrolled to volunteer at the hospital on Saturday, every week for 4 hours. I was supposed to deal with different types of people and patients who came to coffee bar in search of some relaxing refreshments. My job was to help with their requests, always with a smile on my face. Through this style of work, one may learn and develop an important skill needed for my future: communication. By dealing with many people who come to bar with different emotions and sometimes the same, I learn to communicate with them and help them under any situation. This situation also helps me prepare for future situations with various types of people I may meet. Also co-working helps with my team work and management skills as each of us can divide and manage the work. This type of co-operative and communicative style of work would be the hardest part of the job, but it was the most enjoyable part as long as I volunteered there.

A typical day at work would be feeding and caring for patients. Helping visitors feel at ease, helping the nurses make their day easier. I learned so much while volunteering at the hospital, I learned what patience, care, persistence, and determination really meant. I don't have any co-workers since every volunteer gets a shift and their own day, but I see other volunteers on different floors and they are always so kind and nice and very smiley! The hardest part of the job is a hard question since I love going there everyday. The most enjoyable part is spending time with others and increasing my social skills and getting out of my comfort zone. I love working with people so much and the hospital experience really provides that.

I have worked at this facility since 2008,  at the time that I began, it was known as Malden Park.  Over the years many changes have taken place.  I have embraced all these changes and feel that not only have they enriched the experience for the patient and families, but also provided many learning opportunites for staff.

I currently am pursuing my Bachelor of Nursing degree and I am grateful to my employer to provide me with the good fortune to participate in this nursing program.

I enjoy going to work each day and knowing that I make a difference for my patients and families with the care that I provide.  I work with a superior team of people that collaborate to administer outstanding care to our patients.

My day at the hospital would be talking to the patients that come in for tests, and processing them into the computer. Answering phones all day long, faxing, filing reports.  I have learned alot from this job,most was learning on the job.  Always had to learn something new, lke new computer systems, or different jobs that management gives to me to do.  Sometimes the hardest job would be working in other departments , like the pathology department, had to send out slides, and enter data in the computer for them.
The most enjoyable part of my job was working with my co-workers, that I miss alot .  I worked with great people, and thats make a difference in liking your job.

I absolutely loved this hospital!  I worked there for ten years, I worked 8 hour days as an ER Transporter as well as an ICU Ward-Aide while attending Nursing School.  I learned to work fast and efficiently while maintaining a calm and professional composure.  Management knew everyone on a one-on-one basis and they were incredible!  Workplace culture was perfect and everyone helped everyone all the time.  The hardest part of the job was it was physically straining, but it was hands down the best job I ever had, it was fun, staff was friendly and the hospital just felt like "home!"

Work is 9-5 for front line staff. Managers have overtime.

Work life balance should be priority. 

Managers try their best. However if you fail to have a leader  at the top you will fail. Leadership should always be a priority in any organization.

Culture is set by a strong leader. If you have that you will be very successful.

Hardest part...not having a strong leader :(  Lots of opportunity..

Most enjoyable....seeing kids play and have fun. I had a colleague that shared the same views that I have. We worked hard and wanted the best for the kids and families that we served.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Support, smaller for a hospital so more of a family feel here than say Windsor Regional.

Short health care workers like any other environment in Ontario

Great culture and environment.

Busy but rewarding. Staff have fun togethet and work well together for the most part

The most toxic environment I have ever experienced.

HR only helps their friends. There is no one to help with being bullied and harassed.

Very toxic, stressful, favoritism

Staff are very professional,kind and respectful to each other.

When we work short staff and unable to be on time helping the patients.

Work environment is satisfactory.Staff help each other.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I always love working in rehab.Always with a smile and grateful after work.

Typical day at work is very busy, lots going on and a very big campus. Management is approachable. Sometimes waiting for follow up if get any at all. Workplace culture seems to be okay, strong unionized environment. Hardest part of the job is dealing with staff concerns, patient concerns, tedious admin tasks, and not using my hard earned skills on a regular basis. Enjoyable part of the job is the fast paced environment and beautiful, clean facility.
