The volunteering in this place was sometimes once or twice a week depending on whenever they need people to volunteer, and I was mainly working as a cashier and account holder, dealing with people who come and visit as well as with the patients in the hospital. Being on time is the main thing I have always managed in addition to being able to prepare everything on time such as coffee, different kind of drinks as well as sandwiches and cookies. A person in my position has to be easy going with a smile on, since people always need someone who can understand and be happy around them.They used to sometimes call me to go to a different floor where I have to do something else such as helping patients with their wheelchairs and carrying them from place to another, and here as well, we need to be careful how to deal with a person because we put his rest and need in a priority so we always need to make him comfortable and feel happy.The hardest part is when you really don't like seeing anyone is getting hurt and you want to make them feel better, but that seems sometimes impossible, so I deal with that by being optimistic and try to make them feel that there is always hope and together we can deal with the pain or any kind of illness they are passing through.The most enjoyable part of the job is off course dealing with different kinds of people and cultures and getting to know new people, and there is always improvement in personality and getting new skills.

Coordinating and scheduling surgeries
Checking each operatory for sterile utensils
Checking inventory on all medical supplies necessary for each operating room to ensure they were always available and in their correct place.
checking in patients to ensure the right patient goes into the correct room having the correct procedure.
Management was helpful and encouraging.
Co workers :  worked as a team.
Hardest part of that job was a stress level that could last hours due to non stop phones ringing and emergencies.
The best part was working with people.

The entire environment is absolutely toxic and management. Only contributes to the toxicity does not ever make any effort to make it better.

Horribly toxic it is the worst place I’ve ever worked in my entire life

You will be overworked and undervalued

This place does not promote growth , nor does it work with it's employees to make things better. I works against it's employees which produces low morale and intolerable working conditions. Bullying and Harassment from managers continues as there isn't recourse for Management and Under the agreement Management always has the right to manage it's department no matter the effects on its Employees...

I really enjoy my time volunteering. The volunteer coordinators are very friendly and will accomodate a busy schedule. The environment is also very nice to work in with all the staff being friendly and with many different volunteer positions around the hospital to choose from. The only thing i didn't like was that there wasn't enough work for me to do in a 4 hour shift.

Good place to work, it has been many years.   This was my first job, initially only planned on working for the summer and ended being promoted and staying for approximately 14 years.  Really enjoyed the people I worked with in the Radiology Department.

Within the position of a withdrawal management counsellor I was welcomed with open arms to the team and the training I had within that department was incredible. Lots of time to learn and experienced staff by your side. 
It was my first job after completion of my graduate program and to this day I would go back.

Excellent work environment and everyone respects each other and helpful

I work in a very well organized department. We all work together as a team to ensure great customer service and patient care.

The most enjoyable part of my job here is that once I moved into a secretarial position I still once a week work as a registration clerk allowing me to interact with the public, something I enjoy very much.

Hotel Dieu is a wonderful place to work.  With many different clinics to work in, gives you a broad variety of health related information and knowledge in the Medical Industry.
