Hotel Novotel

My days are constantly changing and are never the same. I have an agenda but quite frequently need to pencil in new things, which is fine as I am open to change and do not like monotony. I manage 2 people currently, however you could also say I manage an additional staff of 12 front desk agents. 
I progressed over the years with Novotel, they have given me the opportunity to expand my horizons as I made my way up the ladder. 
I enjoy working with my fellow coworkers, and though we all manage different departments in the hotel, every morning at 9:30 am we come together as a team, to conquer whatever obstacles we are experiencing and not forgetting to share the good ones too. 
The most difficult part of my job is probably having a work life balance, that being a hotel who is open 24 hrs 365 days a year can be quite demanding at times.
My job is ever changing, and we face challenges every day, every season, the challenge to achieve top line budgets and exceed them, either by tweaking rates, performing an analysis of the market, or teaming up with the marketing teams, just to name a few, is what makes my job enjoyable. I am results oriented and feel a sense of achievement when goals are exceeded. 

It was a nice place to work, the people there are very kind and patient. I felt like I had solidified friendships and family while I was working there. The management definitely prefers if you have previous Opera experience, but they will hire you even if you inexperienced and take their time training you, while also being very explanative and make sure you understand everything before proceeding further. Just make sure you completed at least a diploma in Hospitality/Hotel Management if you are thinking to apply as FD agent or similar. If you are still a student(not sure if they still hire students), they were pretty flexible and tried their best to work around your uni schedule. Also if you can manage late nights, working as a night auditor was pretty chill. Would recommend overall

Vaughan location is a racist and low quality place, where a manager passes beside you not even saying hello, everyone is with unhappy and gossiping about each other.  Human resource manager is coming to work with blue highlight hair color and not even smiling to her co-workers. they would call you to their office beginning of your shift and telling you in a high voice tone that you are terminated middle of low season winter. Shift manager and her favorite agent is always sitting in the office and having long conversation during their busy working times, and so one person have to handle phone calls and checking in the guest one by one.Their food is always left over from conference meetings, aim going forward with my complaints about this company.

Management's inflexibility and reluctance to change their perspectives further exacerbated the challenges faced by employees. This rigidity hindered effective communication and problem-solving, contributing to a stagnant work environment where innovation and adaptation were stifled.

Additionally, management's tendency to lay off employees without consideration for tenure or dedication created an atmosphere of uncertainty and stress. Loyalty and dedication were undervalued, as individuals could be replaced without warning, regardless of their years of service. This lack of job security and disregard for employee tenure significantly impacted morale and trust within the workplace.

Toronto Centre is a toxic culture you do not want to be a part of.   Senior staff have lost "hospitality" and are very miserable in their positions.   Middle management are clueless and seemed stressed, Upper management is unfriendly and talks about you behind you back, supporting a negative workplace. 

Rumor is 2 Managers quit on the same day during the summer to work at different hotels because of the negative atmosphere and no support encouraged by upper management.

Senior staff appear to be miserable and unfriendly to newer staff.

The owners of this location need to clean out the older Management and start fresh to get a more positive and friendly atmosphere.

Working at Novotel was a great work place, friendly front desk agents, great rooms management and great housekeeping co workers, a typical day at work would be, stocking up my cart with all linens and ammenities for all suites. At novotel my work areas was the rooms. i learned alot at novotel how to clean the rooms to hotel standards , how to handle with the guests staying at novotel, its not the easiest job and its not the hardest but i must say i enjoyed working there. My co-workers/ team were great people and it is a very fun and happy place to work at. The hardest part of the job was the party suites, but overall its a great and fun environment to work at .

n/a fun friendlywas based mainly around the needs of the business. Due to my skills my employer used me in both front and back of house roles. I was responsible for the handling of money and interaction with guests. It was my responsibility to make sure all regulations regarding health and safety, and food preparation was followed. My main focus was on providing an excellent experience for our customers, whether through my excellent customer service, my ability to solve problems or my skills as a chef in the kitchen

The day would start with projects to be completed. I've learned lots in regards hospitality and the overall group and sales management in the hotel. My co-workers at the time, varied in culture and aptitudes.
The hardest par of the job was to fulfill the assigned targets in the ADHOC segment. The most enjoyable part of the job was actually accomplish the target in spite the pressures.

Management is quick to forget sacrifices you make to save the day. Chaotic schedules with very little forecasting. Management is superficial and has little knowledge of the actual resources available to staff. This place need a Union. Great for students and people learning the trade. Very lucrative wages.

You work hard but get to be independent and have fun. High level of respect and management doesn’t torelate any disrespect. Culture is cool monthly team events and different events through year. Hardest part is the early shifts,  most enjoyable is being around good respectful fun people who care about their work and guests
