Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd

I enjoyed going to work for Husky Injection Molding. The people were friendly, the atmosphere was enjoyable and I always had work to do. The group benefits are exceptional, but a lot of the times you have to be on contract for awhile, sometimes years. They have a lot of recreational teams to choose from and they have a gym on campus. They also have a wellness centre on campus for massage therapy, chiropractor and more. They have recreational rooms in the many of the buildings on site, ex. ping pong. The shift work there varies. You could be on a rotation or could be working straight shifts. They have three shifts. Days, afternoons and weekends. There is room for advancement in this company, a lot of it being CNC machines. The pay is low however and the raises are minuscule. Bonus are handed out based on your work performance and continuous improvement projects.

I had worked as an intern in Husky Injection Molding Systems for 16 months, which was mainly responsible for developing automation software. Similarly, my job included designing User Interface and PLC program. In addition, I voluntarily helped developed software applications to help with daily office work like creating and printing documents automatically, updating files on a daily basis. Besides that, since we needed to communicate with business team to make sure our system worked to meet customer expectation, I needed to talk to the technicians on field or even to the customers directly. This internship experience not only equipped me programming skills, but also helped me develop communication skills in English. I believe that knowledge of Chinese and English will facilitate my work in the future.

when i arrived at work its starts at grabbing a work sheet understanding of what is the main priority and what needs to be done.
the main factors while working around and on these machines are

1. when working around the machines where gloves and bump caps to avoid head injury's or infections from cuts.

2. when moving the units the floors must be kept clean to avoid the dollies from slipping out from under neath the machines.

the management side i nothing much to say about them... just like any regular work place.

there a a lot of cultured people work at husky, are very nice and i like working with them.


Husky is no the most easiest job to get due to the the fact that its a near privet company.

Every day was challenging during my work term, i used to start at 8 in the morning, checked my emails and set up my priorities for the day. Worked on projects with priorities and discussed all problems with my co-workers. Usually ate lunch with my co-workers and used to visit plant area after. Made a list of tasks to be done before leaving and typically left at 5.

I learned lot of things at Husky which include solid modelling (UG NX7.5), designing and detailing skills, project management, knowledge of LEAN manufacturing, fixture development, etc.  

I used to work with Manufacturing Engineers, they were very kind and supportive, helped me throughout my work term.

There was nothing in my job that i found overly difficult.

My entire work term was enjoyable and rewarding.

The work was somewhat menial, however some meaningful experience was gained with various systems. Colleagues, including bosses were fantastic, company culture is great. While I had to return to university after the summer, those working with me on the project were retained (to my knowledge) and found another role, which speaks to the culture and taking care of good people mentality. Lots of long hours, including overtime and once an entire weekend, but the compensation was well worth it.

Working here has been one of the most challenging experiences of my professional career. While the company is known for its innovative products and industry-leading technology, the work environment leaves much to be desired.

Work-Life Balance: One of the most significant issues is the lack of work-life balance. Employees are often expected to work long hours, including weekends and holidays, without any additional compensation or acknowledgment. The pressure to meet tight deadlines and the constant demand for high performance can be overwhelming and exhausting.


People power is the greatest asset at Husky.  The learning potential and opportunity to be influenced by truly remarkable people is a key element to why you should consider a career at Husky. I really miss interacting with people who were motivated, engaged and always driven to do the right thing, not take the easy road. Challenging, exciting and certainly a great experience.

This place used to be one of the best places to work for.  But with the latest ownership change, a bunch of dictatorship-like leaders came in and destroyed a lot of good things, including the employee morale.  With their short term gain mindset, they treated a lot of talented team members with very little respect.  This resulted in a mass exodus of team members.
And btw, the CEO openly tries to persuade the employees to support right wing.

The work environment is very productive and respectful. It is a great company to work for.
I learned a lot specially how to work with the internal MRP system.
The Mexican and Latin America co workers and customers are great people to be dealing which motivates to export their spare parts in a fast and efficient way for them to clear customs successfully.

Excellent exposure to injection molding machines will be achieved through working as a designer among strong design team.  Knowledge of assembly line, production support, problem solving skills, root cause analysis, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, etc.  Very friendly working environment.  Just excellent working environment.
