What is the best part of working at the company?
The people I worked with and the feeling of being a part of a team working toward the success of the company. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of good production planning and the constant push to increase production that challenged the supply chain.  Also the micromanaging that created a feeling of mistrust and a lack of respect from upper management. Transformed from a company with a strong sense of caring for the employee to a company that cares less for the employee over the almighty dollar.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Cultural change over the past few years from a warm and welcoming environment to a cold corporate environment after the original owners retired. High stress work environment lacking in a balance for rewarding success to only specific groups versus all employees who played a part in the team effort. 


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Varies based on activities or tasks to do the job. Day always starts to review any concerns raised in regards to supplies and the level of supplies to determine replenishment. As day progresses, attention paid to attending to the needs of  internal customers, addressing replenishment challenges as they arise due to production changes, equipment breakdown  or the suppliers ability to fulfil orders. Day ends well if tasks can be completed but stress prevails if incomplete.

Worked at Hylife for a number of years and saw first hand that there is definite favoritism given to a select group of people, namely if you are young (under 35) and are great at sucking up to the managers.  The only people that get out of entry level positions at Hylife are those who are either related to senior staff or have kissed up to the right people regardless of how many people they stabbed in the back or gossiped about to get there. Some of the people that have been advanced to leadership roles were horrible co-workers, they gossiped and spoke badly about other staff including the very managers that gave them their new roles.  The managers doing the hiring pay little attention to the negatives in the people they advance as long as the person has stroked their ego. If you are under 35 and are great at kissing up you will go very far at Hylife.  Anyone else need not apply unless you are happy staying in an entry level job for the rest of your career at Hylife.  You will only get the jobs that have the most hands on work and put in the most hours while the "leaders" are able to take vacation whenever they want. Actual work experience and seniority mean nothing at Hylife which has caused the moral in most of the departments to be at an all time low. 

Working for Hylife has been one of the worst experiences in my life.
It's just managed so badly!
They treat you like you're disposable
They don't care about you as a person, to them you're a robot that should never have a problem.
They promise great things but never deliver and when they do it's not what you want.
They say you get a raise every 6 months, it's more like 9.
The work is fairly easy but the hours are terrible with them now requiring you to work Sundays at opposite time of your normal schedule.
Management doesn't care about you as long as you're there. Half the people don't know how to do their job properly but management doesn't care cause the job gets done even if its done poorly.
(There's people that have caused thousands of dollars in damages and just got told "don't do that again")
The only thing that keeps me here are the people, they know how to have a good time.
If you work nights the hours depend on how many trailers you have, sometimes you'll work 6 hours other times you'll work 10+ whereas days will always work 8.
There's No AC or heat, only one bay has heat so you'll be lucky if you manage to stay warm in winter.
Things take weeks to get fixed if you can't fix it yourself. 
Apply here as a last resort.

Management is “do what we say and not what we do”. Heavy micro management. Low wages makes for under qualified management who don’t know what they are doing. This leads to tons of wasted time and effort completing tasks that are unnecessary. It’s also common for management to fire or hinder a promising employees growth in an effort to  secure management positions. 

A bad year for the company means cheap/no bonuses or Christmas gifts or raises but a good year means barely any extra benefits for most employees while upper management gets huge bonuses. 

No support for continuous improvement suggestions within the company. Management will likely tell you that “it’s not your job to worry about that”. 

Open floor concept for everyone but management. Company taking on huge debt for business ventures with no risk assessment which has lead to significant budgeting issues. Cutting corners anywhere possible including security. Selling off important parts of the business to maintain through bad decisions which will lead to less growth in the future. 

Managed 1 office administrator staff and supervised 10 feed production processors. Built a strong team by responding to staff one-one-one and through group interactions. 

Compiled full accounting cycle financial statements and trial balances for three companies and reported them to the Director of Finance, shareholders, and external auditors. Calculated monthly journal entries and maintained the general ledger. Prepared the Capital Asset Schedule.

Prepared and monitored the annual budget and analyzed quarterly comparisons. 

Created and implemented inventory control system, office policies and internal control procedures. 

Compiled, documented and verified personal, payroll and benefits data for 15 employees. Communicated with human resources to verify new hires, terminations, leaves of absences and performance evaluations and bonuses.

everyday our farrowing manager assigned each and everyone an assign task for the day, i was able to learned all the different task in the barn because we shift work assignment every week.  The management is always concern with the health and safety of its workers, since we are working as a team all of us is always practicing team work we were able to help one another after our assigned task for the day, the hardest part of the job is when we have to catch up with those behind task brought about by lacking personnel because of gap if ever an employee is being promoted or quit in their job and the most enjoyable part of the job is that our breaks is always been observed,benefits to their employees is being considered like bonus in cash and in kind and the most of all programs for the employees and our families was always given attention.

-The work is difficult compare from my work here in Philippines.
-But i learned more and advance, specially there's a lot of dialect from other country that we learned.
-Management are equal treatment to employee in terms of over time, vacation and all benefits they give to employee.
-Most of co-worker are very helpful friendly understanding cooperative and visible always.
-The hardest part of job, when i take over time in the day time, so very hard for me to work because i have lock of sleep, cause my schedule is night ship that time.
-And the most enjoyable part of my job. when time the conveyor is lot of trouble and we finish work almost early morning.

A typical day starts with safety checks, then packing and sorting products on the production line for 10-12 hour shifts. I learned how to work fast while keeping quality high and following hygiene standards. Management gives clear instructions and is approachable if you have issues. The workplace culture is team-focused - people help each other during busy periods. The hardest part is standing and lifting 20-25kg for long shifts. The most enjoyable part is hitting my daily target and working with a reliable team.

Hylife has a seniority based job bidding system. The supervisors place their friends in the higher paying jobs regardless of effort, skills or seniority. If you are born in Canada you will have a harder time to move up in this company. I do not recommend this company for people who are not Filipino. The management at the company are mostly friendly unless you bring up important health and safety concerns which are valid and or concerns regarding improper pay which they will not make any adjustments to otherwise. Products are low quality and workers refuse to try harder due to high stress levels of repetitive high paced work.

All the employees are friendly and encouraging, from the production staff to the President. Truly a family run business that treats you like one of their own. There are challenges however with those challenges come support from team members and recognition. 

They live by their core values in particular: work hard play hard, an open-door policy the CEO's make an effort to know your name and value everyone's opinion, and lastly community. The company does its best to ensure that they are apart of community events and try to give back.

There really isn't a typical day to day at HyLife. Each day is different with new and exciting experiences.

Plus there is an on-site cafeteria that serves the best food in town!
