Imagine if your boss changed every week, and you weren't able to follow up with them following your performance review, even if you disagreed. Welcome to Hyre. You are a freelance agent who takes on jobs through Hyre. Often wait staff or food service positions. Your supervisors can rate you 1-5 stars and your pay scales with the amount of stars you are rated. (and it is of course the elusive 5 star rate that will be advertised to you) As a freelance agent you are responsible for your own uniform (black shirt, tie, dress pants, dress shoes, and vest), and other expenses. You will have to adapt quickly to a variety of managers and management styles, and any perceived infraction might cost you a star. Lose too many stars and you will be barred from pursuing certain contracts, a policy that seems fair until you realize there's no appeal system for an anomalously bad rating. As a freelance agent you also don't get benefits or insurance and have to sort our your own taxes.

You have the choice to sign up for your own hours and days, but it is mostly physical labor, cleaning dishes, picking up and serving guests. Some shifts are exhausting long hours serving heavy items with low pay. The management sometimes make up strange "problems" with your performance and give you a low rating, then it allows them to pay you lower than expected, lower than minimum wage. For example one manager decided  "you appeared awkward or shy" they can give you a low rating and pay you much less than minimum wage, despite you being friendly, personable, helpful  and having done your best on the job. You can choose your location of work, each has different managers so you don't know what to expect. Some locations have great nice managers, some have rude toxic managers that criticize you inappropriately.  

Working at hyre is great for anyone looking for part time work. The management team I've spoken to so far has been super nice, and are so accommodating. I was looking for extra shifts because I got laid off from my other job because of COVID and they made sure to contact me as soon as they had something available for me. They also always make sure that I'm comfortable working a specific shift because of COVID and always remind me of any new opportunities. Overall great team to work for!

I've been a server and bartender for over 15 years and was always disappointed with the complacency of most agencies I had worked with. There was never any feedback on my performance (though I was always one of the hardest working individuals on the shift). 
At Hyre.ca, what I like the most was that when I do well, I get rewarded. When I work extra hours and take initiative, my hard work gets acknowledged and my hourly wage goes up for that shift. I find this to be a very fair system. Glad to have found it.

I've been with Hyre for over a year, they are pretty flexible in the type of shifts you can pick up and I've met some really cool people while working events. Gives me a good workaround when I need to earn some extra money and they always have something you can pick up or go on-call for. Make sure you arrive early to each shift though, you get rated and your reliability gets looked at. You can grow rating too and start seeing better shifts so putting in the work balances out.

I absolutely love working for Hyre, you get to make your own schedule, pick shifts that are appropriate for you, and you get to work different positions (wait staff, bartender, cleaner, host, etc.) which makes every shift exciting and new especially since you get to work at various locations! The best part is that all I need to do is log onto the app and look at all the shifts available and pick up whatever suits me!

Hyre works with clients who need immediate assistance and support. Whether a bartender at a lunchtime function or dietary aide at a nursing home .Hyre is a variety which makes it a fun atmosphere to work.

Each day of my work was different. I learned a lot about table setting, serving breakfast, dinner party, serving banquets. Clever management, very helpful. High level culture, teamwork. To watch customers to avoid overindulging in alcohol and moderate service. To serve elder customers, help customers to meet their needs and solve their problems.

Love working with Hyre! The team is very responsive to any of my questions and concerns. I like that I can find and pick up shifts and any job opportunities very quickly. You communicate with the team a lot and always know what to expect.

Hyre is easily the best on-demand event staffing company. You are able to choose your own schedule, work at a wide variety of places(outdoor events, hotels, museums, banquets, parties and more), and the pay is higher than other agencies I have worked for.
