Offered the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting and impactful projects alongside talented and knowledgeable colleagues. The collaborative environment helped me develop both technical and professional skills, and I appreciated the chance to work with multidisciplinary teams on complex assignments.

One of the strongest aspects of the company is the quality of the people and projects. Team members are generally supportive, and there are many opportunities to learn from experienced professionals across different disciplines.

However, compensation was not always competitive compared to market rates, particularly given the workload expectations. During busy project periods, overtime was common, and teams were often stretched thin due to resource constraints. This could result in high workloads and challenges maintaining work life balance.

Overall, IBI Group is a good place to gain experience, work on meaningful projects, and collaborate with skilled professionals, but improvements in staffing levels, workload management, and compensation would enhance the employee experience.

A typical day is heads-down project work with tight deadlines and not much else going on around it. You learn a lot technically, mostly because the senior staff and project managers are experienced and willing to share what they know. Management at the team level is usually solid, and some PMs are genuinely great to work with. Workplace culture is where it falls short; it's all work, no real team activities or social side, so it gets dull fast. The hardest part is the pay and benefits, which are well below what other firms offer for the same work. HR is also a weak spot, often dismissive and not very helpful when you need support. The best part is honestly the coworkers and the projects you get exposure to.

I worked for IBI Group for several months.  Unfortunately they were experiencing some financial issues, where the stock price went from around $20 to $0.75.  

This however, was not really reflected in the job culture, and upper-level management (CEO) did a good job of holding town halls in communicating with all employees about fears and changes,

However, immediate management in some areas hold their own agendas, just like anywhere, I suppose, and some have issues in separating personal differences from one's potential.

Co-workers - bright individuals

A good place to work at. Management is looking to keep you busy, but while working on projects, communication seems to be an issue for certain personnel. Workplace culture is good, currently its a work from home for most of the employees, and the company is flexible with that. Company needs to get more projects in transportation/highway design. Certain managers are a little cold and do not communicate effectively while working on tasks. On the contrary, you also get a chance to grow by trying to figure out things yourself. 

i spent most my time at IBI Group splitting a 70 hour work week between the systems projects working all over North America and the IT department.

The IT department had a centralized management team that was inexperienced with most technology as well as project management skills.  

The systems group was amazing and the team cooperative environment was second to none.  They hired the best of the best and brought several offices together to complete projects for clients in a manner that made learning both easy and fun.

IBI Group Calgary was my first job out of school, and continued for 9 years after. If it wasn't for their flexibility in your schedule, their desire for you to grow and advance in the company, the varied types of projects and the varied experiences and stages within each project that only smaller firms can offer you, and the amazing group of people that became friends and family, I would have left a long time ago. This was a great place and opportunity to grow after graduating.

Architectural dept. recieves no support from Sr. management, and is passed over for prominent local projects in favour of Vancouver and Toronto offices. Sr. Architects led by Sr. manager forced to relocate to Calgary from Vancouver, and is unmotivated to lead, i.e: no team work, team meetings, feedback, positive motivation or collaboration. Toxic, stressful, silent, de-motivating environment. Hostile and confrontational Sr.Architects

IBI Group is one of the can recommend as a good company.
My typical work day since I started were Monday to Friday with 8 hours a day. I can say that IBI Group gave a lot of information, knowledge for the new programs in drafting and designing.
Culture of hard work and fun. The management very supportive to the employee for the professional development and provide trainings.
Enjoyable part every time when the design submission approved by the City.

I take care of drafting redline and asbuilt drawings, as well as assisting the Director of Engineering.
I have learned a lot of AutoCAD skills
Management is too far removed from the day to day running of the company, therefore a lot of details fall through the cracks.
The co-workers are not accountable at all for their quality of work.
The hardest part of my job is getting the information I need from my colleagues.
The drafting is the most enjoyable part for me.

A nice workplace, with its ups and downs. Its fast grow created some troubles in the organization at a managerial level, which impacts on higher than average turn over. Hopefully this gets sorted out.

Worklife balance is nice, work is equally challenging and interesting, pay and benefits are nice.

Management is weak though, with unbalanced project team composition and deficient resource allocation.
