Working as an IELTS invigilator at IDP was a structured and disciplined experience. A typical day involved setting up the exam room, verifying candidate identification, explaining exam rules, distributing papers, and carefully monitoring test-takers to ensure fairness and compliance. The role demanded strong attention to detail, punctuality, and professionalism.
I learned how to manage time effectively, handle responsibilities with precision, and maintain composure under pressure. The job strengthened my communication and teamwork skills while teaching me the importance of confidentiality and impartiality. Management provided clear guidelines and consistent support, ensuring that all procedures were followed accurately.
The workplace culture was respectful and professional, emphasizing integrity, teamwork, and fairness. Everyone worked collaboratively to create a calm and organized testing environment. The hardest part of the job was standing for long hours and maintaining constant focus, as even small errors could affect the exam’s credibility.
The most enjoyable part was interacting with candidates from diverse backgrounds and witnessing their determination to achieve academic or professional goals. It was rewarding to contribute to such an important stage in their journey. Overall, the role offered valuable experience in responsibility, precision, and professionalism within a supportive and internationally recognized organization.

IDP has a network of 89 international student-placement centres located in 31 countries worldwide, including India, China, and many other locations across South-East Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Australia.

A casual position, fine if everything is going well with available work and the secret checks they do on you. Unfortunately, no guarantee of their sending you work ( but pressure on you to finish according to their time frame) and a ‘three strikes you’re instantly out’ policy. No contact with managers re: positive work performance or connection to feel part of the company. The pay makes it worthwhile but keep in mind it can instantly end, and some weeks you may not get much work. 

The bad news is that the interview and training takes well over a month to complete. The good news is that the work is rewarding, salary is competitive, and well worth the effort to pass the training. The hours are flexible and the job works well as supplementary income but certainly not enough to qualify as primary income.

I work independently at home so the work is isolating.  Apart from the initial training, I don't have contact with many people.  Email is the primary method of communication and ESM's send reports every marking period detailing marking accuracy (or lack thereof). There is consistent feedback in order to improve, which is great.  

IDP continues to be a leader in the space however have not kept up with the times. Their tech, processes, and even branding need updating to ensure they remain competitive locally. Especially for their student placement side of things, they should focus on supporting students throughout their journey of international education and not just wash their hands of them once they land at their destination. This ethos should apply for their employees as well. 

The only problem with this job is the very limited hour of work! They hire new employees on regular basis just to maintain a pool of workers but do not bother giving the former employees a full-shift even! They give maximum hours only to the selective employees!

Use it just as as a stepping stone.
No recognition.
They are not transparent even though they are a publicly traded company.
You are expected to work in three weekends for free.
There's no work/life balance.

I am working as an invigilator, it is an excellent job on a weekend for people studying and want an easy job. They have multiple location in ON and you can work in different cities if you have a car. Their shift is little so you need to find another job in summer
