A typical day in my last position would be read my emails and respond to any question. Review the night cycle reports to mitigate any risk. Then proprieties my work to process trade request 10 items per hour. Made phone calls to broker/dealers for trade requests that are not received in good order, process adjustments to accounts and resolved problems daily.
One thing I have learned from past mistakes is ask for help. I have learned that it is far better to ask for clarification and solve an issue right away, then be unsure. This made me communicate well with my peers and ask question.
In general, a good manager gives clear directions but is ready and available to jump in to offer guidance, expertise, and help when needed. I try my best to make that my management style.
The toughest part of the job is dealing with certain clients. When they give us a hard time, it is hard to do our job. On the other hand, when you get a great client, it is probably the most rewarding and simplest part of the work.
My favorite parts of my last job the people I worked with. It’s great to work with people that care about their company and doing a good job. It’s hard to find that environment today because so many people just don’t care about honesty, hard work & integrity

I usually started my work at 1:30pm every day. with my financial or non financial documents, make sure data entry department entered it 100% correct. and work until I got work every day. usually left between 7:30 to 9pm.

I have learned how to check file properly, communicate with co-worker, and train new worker, and discuss with team when new problem face and how to solve it on time.

Our management was really nice, they distribute work properly, and teach what we had to know to do our job properly, and our manager were very nice and understanding mentality, I still miss them.

I loved to work with my co-worker, they were very nice and funny, every day we enjoyed a lot during our work, we felt we are having party every night, we helped each other to complete our work properly.

The most hardest part of job was reading faxed or unclear documents, some time 3 or 4 people were discussed to solve our work.

We enjoyed lot when we had to do more work, like until at 9/9:30pm. Then we brought some food for each other and gossiping our funny situation, also enjoy to decorate our office during special occasion, such as Christmas event.

I would be happy to work for such organization again.

This company has great products, however it's approach to project delivery leaves much to be desired and needs rapid change to bring it up to industry standards. The processes and tool kit does nothing to help the PM deliver and in fact does the opposite by placing an  undue burden and extreme overhead, causing longer hours and higher effort to accomplish something than is estimated for and/or available in the day. The PMO on boarding process is non-existent, however the initial HR on boarding is done well. Not a good move if you're looking to progress you career.

Office hours are 8:30 - 5:00pm and you are EXPECTED to be onsite during these hours. There is little or no executive or management support, for work in life style allowing individuals to work from home. I

Compensation is somewhat competitive, however seems to be stuck at levels seen in the 1990's.

Overall there is immense room for improvement and if activities that have been discussed internally are actually put in place this company will take great strides in move their delivery system forward to a more efficient and project focused organization. Right now this is NOT a good place to work or a good career move.

Very reactive environment. Get use to having to constantly 'out fires'. Management never remembers your qualifications. If you're hired on the bilingual team, expect to never leave because they never have enough people. It's a very clique-y and bias environment. Mngt promotes their preferred and ignores the rest. Very high turn over rate. Your entire team can change in as little as 3-6 months. The contract positions are human exploitation. It's a very thankless job. Management always being pulled into meetings, very little time for developing you. Contact centre vacation schedule is a lottery system, and no vacation from Jan-May. Worked there for 3 years. Horrible experience. Human Rights should investigate.

A typical day: 5 hours meeting with different teams for different project, rest of time doing research, design and documenting mostly at night.

What I learned: mentering team, stimulate, encourage team members, draw diagram and visually picture out whole picture is very helpful.

Management: make people active and recognized, listenning, encouraging, use properly wording tell the potential challenge.

co-workers: work as a team, keep shareing information and get feed back. let team member clearly understand the schedule and work distributions.

The hardest part of job: the tight time line and the huge size work, have to balance the good future seeing design and resource skills and work load.

The most enjoyable part of job: Each projetc like a kid, whe it's 'grown up' and go production,, when a brand new team is build up and matured.

My job was great. I would wake up to my own desk and computer. My main role was to manage investors accounts who desire to invest in mutual funds. I had advisors call me on behalf of their clients  for any inquiries regarding their investors accounts.  I was the person to call to fix any changes and to provide advisors with information if they were confused about something. Overall, the staff and management were great and I learned alot in this field. I have completed my Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and in the progress of completing my Conducts Practices and Hanbook course (CPH). My main goal is to work in the field of financing because that is where my desire is.

I have been working at IFDS for just under 2 years. What I noticed is that most people who start will end up leaving just under 2 years. The rest of the company is made up of veterans that have been around for 10, 15, 20 plus years. We have some really nice people there however there are the gang that just make your experience working there horrendous. Those who are new are over it. I have a great team and manager and VP so it made it exceptionally pleasant. But like how life goes all good things must come to an end...and now we seeing the good quality employees are leaving before our eyes.

The people at IFDS were great; friendly, warm and professional. The culture was that of enjoying work while being productive. There were many social and team building activities scheduled and available for staff. During the World Cup TV's were available throughout the office and in lunch/break rooms to watch each game. Table tennis and foosball tables were available in the employee lounge.

There were philanthropic events in support of charities and employees were encouraged to participate in all.

Manager should be capable of coaching all associates to make at-least at medium level.   
Hiring procedures are not in very professional manner.   
Providing high potential to the associates who come with referrals and on the floor these associates are treated  "soft corner" and promoting them to next level very fast
Pushing hard working associates "more hard"

Some nice folks that were kind and accommodating

Sweatshop environment and poorly run with lack of resources, enough staff, etc

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not good.  It felt overwhelming and like a sweatshop at times
