IGLOO Software

Igloo Software is a company with a lot of great people, a nice company culture and a really nice workspace. Unfortunately my experience there did not match my initial impression. My tenure was very short - almost 4 weeks. I took the job with the knowledge that while i was a little over-qualified for the position, that they were a fast growing company with a great reputation for culture and opportunities to grow into something else down the line. 

Unfortunately I got off to a poor start, as my first day coincided with the first day of a protracted bout of strep throat that would last 10 days and survive 2 prescriptions of antibiotics. I did the best I could for the first week and a half under an antibiotic/advil cold and sinus induced. And while I probably appreciated not being pushed terribly hard that first week under the conditions, it was a little disturbing that there was no one actually directing me or training me for the entire week. I had a lot of time on my hands. I asked my coworkers questions to figure stuff out, and they were great, but they were busy doing their own work. 

I did what was asked of me, which was to skin web sites. The people on my team were very helpful about teaching me the tools they use, and their workflow. By week 4 i was finally fully integrated and healthy. 

Then I got told my services were no longer needed for what was termed "fit and role". I worked through strep throat that had lasted almost half my time with the company! What upset me most though was that I was not told once that there were things I might have been doing wrong or that the job I was doing was not good enough. I understand the employers right to let you go within the probationary period but I believe there should be an honest effort to help the employee succeed. And that starts with feedback and training, neither of which I received.

I saw a lot of negative reviews from former team members and thought it might be good to share some insights from a current employee.

Igloo is TRULY one of the best companies I have ever worked for! From day one, I have felt supported, not only by my team, but by top leadership as well. The leadership/exec team really goes out of their way to recognize contributions, innovative ideas and hard work. It never goes unnoticed.

In terms of culture, it's contagious without feeling like you drank the tech company kool-aid. Everyone is welcoming and cares about the work they do. It's an open, trusting and collaborative culture which truly puts people first and listens/actions feedback from our surveys (they introduced GRSP match this year and created a really amazing sponsorship program for underrepresented groups). There also seems to be a big focus on our mental wellness with half day Friday's during the summer and some extra long weekends.

Fully remote work, whether you live 5 minutes from the office or 5 hours, is also an amazing option they have given to everyone.

Igloo is a small company so they may not have all of the larger tech company offerings, but the benefits and perks they do have are amazing and do make a difference.

Like any smaller tech company, it can be a fast environment and things can change on a dime. You need to be open and willing to change along with the company.


I've worked at Igloo for several years and am consistently happy with the overall culture, my role, management and the opportunities offered. 

The culture at Igloo is very friendly and progressive. I always feel my voice is heard when offering suggestions, whether on overall improvements or in relation to my role.

Igloo management is great and my role expectations are clear, management strives to ensure employees have a great work-life balance and opportunities are endless if you're looking to do more.

Igloo has had a great transformation of leadership in the last 2 years and the direction of the company is super exciting. Every week there are new opportunities for self development and growth. There were some challenges of being fully remote, but moving to a hybrid environment and travel on again on the horizon, I believe certain culture loss of the pandemic will return.

The pay is fair, the hours are flexible, benefits meet my needs and I find it to be a rewarding company for those who work hard.

I enjoy working along side my team at Igloo. I am frequently presented with new challenges and opportunities to grow and advance my career. Even during more challenging projects, my team and manager are there to assist in navigating me through. The company is also transparent with the employees and stay connected through regular communication methods to ensure we are all on the same page. I also enjoy the internal training that is provided regularly to advance skillsets.


I think this company has potential, but the people leading it are not good enough to unleash this potential. The current management is incapable of leading other people and steering the company in the right direction. There's also almost no support from the management, so employees have to deal with issues that the managers should be dealing with. If only the management gets more competent people, I can see the company improving. 

Igloo has great people and strive to create a fun work culture. 

If you apply yourself you have the chance to really make a difference and grow in ways you wouldn't be able to in a larger company. 

The intranet platform (their product) is like walking into a poorly constructed house. Most of that is covered up with custom css and JavaScript. 

Investors are driving the direction of the company. They don't care about making a good product, they care more about sales. 

This company probably won't be around in 5 years. It will probably be sold for their client base, not their platform.

I very much enjoyed the atmosphere of working at Igloo although because it's a company still growing you can't expect a lot of benefits from working there.

If you do take on a position with this company you will have to work hard and sometimes take on multiple roles. 

The people that work at Igloo are amazing and, in my opinion, made the company enjoyable to work for.

The only possible reason as to why the managers are terrible at scheduling is because they do not look at the employees' schedules. Because if they did, then they wouldn't assign us with task after that also have very close deadlines. They obviously do not care that we are overloaded or already exhausted. They only want us to keep providing output and finishing tasks with maximum efficiency for the sake of the company's profits and the manager's pockets.

New leadership paving the way - they are transparent with their communications, working on improving the company culture. To be successful within this organization you do need to be proactive and take the initiative to learn and teach yourself your role. There is a company wide onboarding which is very helpful however no one-on-one individual role training. Workplace culture is competitive but in a healthy manner. People are awesome. Great product.
