My time at IGNITE has been a valuable and memorable experience. The work culture is positive, inclusive, and encouraging, making it a great environment for students to grow both personally and professionally. The management team is supportive, approachable, and genuinely interested in helping students succeed. My colleagues were excellent—collaborative, friendly, and always willing to lend a hand, which made every shift enjoyable.

While the job was rewarding in terms of experience and skill development, the pay was relatively low, and the limited number of hours made it difficult to rely on the position as a main source of income. It’s clearly designed as a student job rather than a long-term role, which is understandable.

Overall, my experience was satisfactory. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work in such a great atmosphere, gain practical skills, and be part of a team that truly embodies professionalism and teamwork.

Generally we promote at our HSF booth in the school and conduct promotions on whatever events or services may be happening that week. We usually incorporate games and raffles to entice students to participate or attend HSF events.
I have learned how deal with rejection as more students will reject you rather than take a flyer you are handing out or stop and listen to you. I also learned how to come out of my shell and be enthusiastic and loud.
Management is great at HSF; I could only say good things about my boss Natalie Bobyk and the rest of HSF management. I have always been treated with respect and had an open business relationship. I love that they listen to our ideas and utilize them.
The hardest part of the job is trying to pull students out of a crowd and try to inform them on HSF services or events that they really don't care about. It is also the most enjoyable and rewarding part of the job when you do get them to listen and actually get through to them; it feels as you have just made a sale! I love establishing rapport with students as they will remember me throughout the school year.

I worked here for three years and loved it. The staff are so friendly. The work environment is fun, collaborative, and every day is different. As a part-time staff member and student, I got to be apart of numerous on-campus events, write over 60 articles, network, and gain skills in my industry. Fantastic place to grow and learn from like-minded communicators working in post-secondary!

Working at IGNITE has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It’s a supportive, fast-paced environment where teamwork, leadership, and student well-being truly matter. I developed strong communication, customer service, and leadership skills while feeling valued and empowered to make a real impact on the student community.

As a posting clerk I was responsible for posting and maintaining notices of upcoming campus events and services, as well as keeping track of inventory of student union supplies. This seasonal position has built upon my customer service and oral communication skills.

IGNITE ensures that students remain at the forefront. Working closely with upper management, there is a lot of say that the Board has and the decisions that are made have significant weight to them. IGNITE offers great training, on-boarding and support throughout a Director's time on the Board.

a great place to your especially as a student supplies a good work life balance. worked as a promotions assistant and never had to work weekends. only had to work 3 mandatory evening shifts. the manager was easy to communicate issues or problems which i saw.

Being around young minds all day keeps you young and energetic, but the full time staff are stagnant and stuck in their ways. Always great ideas floating around the facility, but they are sometimes thrown by the wayside due to unwillingness to change mindsets.
