The day started with analyzing and resolving discrepancies in the Cash Reconciliation Process. Balancing cash sheet as per deadlines of the assigned portfolios. Interacting with the overseas office personnel to resolve activity / cash issues. Performing asset activity; tracking based on documents provided by client.
Working under crisis during quarter-ends and year-ends.

The team and office people were very friendly which was the best part to make work easier.
To meet the deadline when in between of a discrepancy was the hardest part of the day's work.

I really admire IHS Markit for the work and learning balance they provide to their employees.
They are giving good opportunities to anyone who wants to learn, grow and achieve their goals.
Needless to say IHS Markit is a fun place as well. They keep their employees engaged in some or the other activity to make sure that fun quotient remains intact.

The company, culture and work are all very good. However, the hiring practices seem to be disjointed between local group needs and the corporations bottom line. Case in point, our group was maintaining our responsibilities but didn't have the capacity to develop new products. We managed to add to our team late last year, but then got hit with layoffs a few months later.

Varied clients and projects, especially after the merger with IHS. Distributed teams make for challenging development but everyone does seem to try their best and produce value for clients. Management is very flat and the environment is geared to allow people to excel in their chosen field.

Great management and great benefits. Not a huge amount of room for advancement unless you're willing to put in a lot of extra work and time. Like any company there were a lot of layoffs but that may be different now. The people were all very nice and the job was alright. Management was always there to help for the most part and the company really cares about your well-being which is great.

Department was run out of the US and they didn’t have a clue what we did. People with bad attitudes and poor customer skills were allowed to continue their behavior despite complaints. Unless you were part of the old guard, good luck getting anywhere in the company. New ideas were shot down as company tried to live on past successes without clear plan for improving. 

Markit is a leader in the financial services space and offers a very open and learning ambience to young professionals.Employees are encouraged to learn more and can take up unique initiatives on  their own also!

Reading and coding in financial engineering is the typical work daily. From this you could learn who financial instruments are priced and how financial engineering is done there..

Work culture is very good. learning is also good.

Challenging job. , good learning.

work-life balance is very good.

Fun activities are less but the environment is good.

Happening location.

New York Office is great, Toronto Office is terrible. i got to good amount of exposure to related field, but the management and my manager were terrible.
