INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANIZATION

Provide full support to Permanent Representative in order to ensure proper coordination with respect to the administrative workload of Permanent Mission. Assist him in all aspects including maintaining schedule, appointments, travel arrangements
and preparation of expense reports, as well as Alternate Permanent Representative as required.
Classify and file official email and e-fax correspondence.
Dispatch correspondence, on behalf of Permanent Representative and follow up on outstanding responses.
Perform thorough review of routine incoming correspondence, including the Mexican Mission inbox, identifying items requiring sensitive treatment with confidentiality.
Assemble relevant documentation for Permanent Representative as necessary for meetings of the Council and Subsidiary Bodies of ICAO.
Assist Permanent Representative with the processing of staffing matters, including personnel and confidential action matters.
Establish schedules; maintain the calendar of Permanent Representative, communicating with the Office of the Secretary General (OSG), with Bureau Directors and Deputy Directors, UN organizations agencies and other international organizations.
Manage and coordinate the logistic and administrative aspects of Mexican Mission to ICAO related meetings and reports.
Assist Permanent Representative, Alternate Permanent Representative with program management tasks, as required.
Prepare correspondence on behalf of Permanent Representative in regards to the various programs and follow through on outstanding issues with Regional Offices,
Member State focal points and internal body.
Ensure that reports, briefing, notes, power point presentations, letters, are proofread for accuracy of references, completeness, grammar, spelling and meaning and consistency with ICAO practices.
Maintain electronic and manual filing system that is organized and simple to follow.
Manage bank accounts, general duties, drive Personal Representative car.

International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is an agency of the United Nations. It is an Aviation organization made up of many states who are members of this Organization. There are three official languages. I worked with Aviation auditors (seconded officers) preparing them to do audits in member states. The work environment is very interesting and employees work both on an national and international level with member states. ICAO has 6 regional offices in Lima, Mexico City, Nairobi, Dakar, Bangkok and Paris and often dealt with the regional offices. Employees are given the opportunity to work in any of these offices if they wished. In addition, there are several delegation representating their countries that are housed at ICAO. 

I have learnt a lot about aviation and especially meeting people from different cultural background was a plus for me. I enjoyed my years at ICAO and made a lot of friends not only in Montreal but from other countries as well.

In summary, it is quite a challenging Organizaltion to work for, meeting people from almost all over the world and since it is an agency of the United Nations, there is protocol to be respected at all times.

I began by going over the list from the previous day, setting priorities. I reviewed the progress of existing projects, then checked the calendar to refresh my memory on the upcoming week. I liked to meet with my staff early, mid and late week to discuss priorities, checked progress, and then prepared for the following week. I wanted to make sure, as much as possible, that we could all dedicate to tasks that moved projects forward, so I made habits out of organizational tasks for speed

No benefits for consultants. No insurance, no pension. They want you to leave after a while. They are forcing everyone back into the office. 

No room for advancement or work growth. Stay a consultant with no benefits forever. 

No room for growth, no courses allowed, no business cards allowed. Red tape for everything. They demand much but give little. Not worth working there. 

Very good job for learning, but very bureaucratic and extremely political  to progress into management posts.
Due to each member state's representation requirements some very unqualified people make it to management just by their government supporting their profile.
Hard for Canadians to move up since it's the hoist nation and therefore no room for senior management for Canadians.

The workplace was very enjoyable without any stress.The people working there were well mannered and well cultured.They were very helpful in everything- concerning the work, the coffee/tea room, and also about any information that I needed. The management was well organised, well set-up and respective people.

To work for the Chinese specially at a very high level of the Government,  one has to have an excellent understanding of the Chinese culture and the willingness to endure and tolerant their ways of carrying on their business for which I decided against. So I quit the job for a better and more fun job at Loto Quebec.

It is great organization to work for. As a consultant i was not required to work from office and my deliverables were judged by quality and not the amount of time i spent on them.

one of the United Nations agency, I have always enjoyed working with people and I think my previous experience will allow me to work as part of the team and to be an effective representative as well. Beside patience, organization skills and creativity

Too political issues.
Lot of rules to allow contractor to apply for job opening.
Rules made to favor managers to bring their outside people to get in.
