A typical day did not consist of much at all unfortunately. The crews are so over manned that 80% of the workers are left standing around. Yet the company would continue to hire on more people every day. I did not have the opportunity to learn much since I was always given the menial tasks. 

Company seems to find any excuse to work against you while trying to get ahead in your career. It's not about how hard you work, but who you know in this company. The wages are not competitive and the only way you will advance in your career is if you know a higher superior. It also turns out I had been getting underpaid, with the same amount of experience as the other workers that held the same position.

As for the co-workers, there is a lack of communication amongst pretty well every single worker on site. Always rumors, someone calls someone else an idiot, drama etc. All talk and no action. On that note, there are still very positive workers that stay under the radar and love what they do.

Overall, DO NOT work for this company if you are new to the oil field, and wanting to learn. You will crash and burn. Because they apparently do not have time to teach you a thing even though as stated before, there are tons of workers just standing around pretending to look busy. 

If you have years and years of experience in your trade and can predict the next move etc. Go right ahead.

We start the day off with a safety  meeting , with workers voicing their concerns of any hazards positive or negative and a confirmation of the employees knowing who their supervisor is and what their task for the day  is as  a group or an individual.  Also knowing in case of emergency where to Muster. The management  is  big on safety and that all employees work in a safe manor and that communication is key .There is no such thing as a stupid question. As for Co-Workers  I Personally look  at  it as that were all team players watching out for each other and its a good feeling knowing that their doing the same  for me. The hardest part of the job is  when an accident happens  and an injury happens  and  you  asked  your self why , But then the most enjoyable part of the job is knowing  that your self and the people you work with done a good days work  without incidents , accidents  or injuries and you make it home safe to your families and friend and love ones. I myself always observed my surroundings and evaluate before starting my task  and I always try to teach new hands this practice that lack the experience and may not know. No matter what age you are and the experience one carries under his belt you never stop learning  . IPAC  is a good company to work for and  has been good to me for I am still employed with them . I am searching  for what other companies have to offer  and perhaps what  I can offer and do for them.

Enjoyed working here,,,until changes in staff were made. Operations side like to micro manage and do well at it. They make the schedule (on paper)  and don’t understand the “reality”of work involved To meet deadlines. It’s too bad management hadn’t worked in all kinds of Alberta weather and understand the “reality” of work involved. Meetings meant nothing, they preach safety yet you never see management out and about talking to workers,,,,ever. I can go on but out of room. Good luck and steer clear from here.

early start in morning;  drive to site in winter conditions; sign paper work of job scope; organize and set up for job as a team; confirmation from supervisor if job scope changes; weld or fabrication on job site;  leave team communication open; plan one step ahead of the welder;   part of the job staying calm and coool with each other while working without attitudes;  the job completion is the enjoyment.

I gained a lot of experience with ipac in carpentry trade as well as welding. A typical day at work would be traveling to local sites building facility starting with ground work as a carpenter  measuring cutting material building forms helping with concrete pours. Working as a welders helper prefab of pipe helping cut and measure pups assisting welder with all tasks and set up. Most enjoyable part of the job was constantly learning new things working with all kinds of different trades.

A tipical day at work was fast paced lots of walking and work to be done. I learned that you have to be extra coushous inside the tanks/confined space. Manegement was not very organized but we got the job done. The co-workers were alright never really got to see to much of them because i was basiclly working alone most of the day. The hardest part of the job was getting in and out of the tanks/confined space with the full faced resperator and oxigen tank on my back. The most enjoyable pert of my job was getting paid.

The safety culture on this job site was excellent. Management was very clear if safety rules were not followed you would immediately be terminated. The moral was good and if you were doing your job safely and efficiently no one bothered you MUCH. The pay was not good, but you can thank a Liberal for that.

At the end of the day it's an oilfield gig work hard and you will be kept busy. I worked here for almost two years in the middle of recession and never missed a beat. They definitely throw you into the mix but it's a sink or swim industry and I was given alot of opportunities I wouldn't have gotten somewhere else. As far as I know it was the best pay in town when I worked there and your co workers are incredible.

When I started working at I-pac I truly enjoyed my job but the lack of experienced trainers as a factor, to be just put into a zoom boom and let loose with out training of any kind I’d not a good way to start a new person off, I would love to work there again now I have been properly trained, operating and being a apart of a growing company Is great but with no proper training it makes your turn I er large

I enjoyed at ipac the supervisor was good and my foreman was fantastic the crew I work with were easy to get along with easy going everybody helped each other it was team effort the reason for leaving ipac was shortage of work at that time so I had to go elsewhere to stay employed but overall I would go back with ipac or straight is what they are called now I believe
