The department of ILVARC typical day involves first interaction with a friendly skilled receptionist who takes clients ‘s info, register them, book appointments or directs them accordingly. Clients then proceed to meet with their respective language assessors and  Counselors to receive services as appropriate. I have personally met people from varying educational backgrounds, work experiences, Cultural and worldviews that have enriched my life tremendously. I grew a lot in many aspects and I credit it all to my time at the ISC-ILVARC

The environment of supporting each other is one of the best part in this organization.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some visitors want service immediately and argue with staff instead of waiting in the line.

There is friendly invironment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typical days are almost busy days.

I really enjoyed my job as an ESL / Career Counselor. The counselors have very busy schedules. But it is so exciting to meet clients coming from so many different countries. Learning about different cultures and languages. I enjoyed talking to each and every of my colleagues.

Interesting and fun place to work. Good environment. Most os my work it has been as a Freelance Interpreter at Legal Aid and The Court Centre. Provide Interpretation from Spanish/English to Newcomers and people that have any legal need and do not speak English and only Spanish..

It is a great opportunity to  working as a volunteer in Immigrant services calgary.I have to call the clients for the references check and taking the references Taking phone calls and transferring to the counsellors. Saving, retrieving clients data in Excel. Review and update clients data ect. 
I enjoyed all parts of my job.

Employees are all professional and caring. There is a Great work culture but unfortunately there is no support for professional growth. There are some hidden policies that won't allow you to grow!

Immigrant Services Calgary does important work in providing services for people that are new to the Calgary area. They help with may services related to finding housing, employments and a place to live. This is crucial for newcomers and can help them build a good new life in Canada.

This is a place where chaos and bad management were born. Huge huge staff turnover. Salary is too low. Lot of office politics, no support. People are left to their own devices. Cliques. If you are a friend of CEO or upper management, you can always advance.

I worked as a volunteer from Monday to Friday. I Learnt so many new things about accounts field. Management was good. Workplace culture very neat and clean. No hardest part for this job. Working with computer was the most enjoyable part of the job.

A nonprofit that is not afraid of taking risks to make changes happen! Great place to work. Very diverse staff, and considerate leaders who actually listen to your needs. It's fast-paced so pay attention to your work-life balance!
