Our division is a small group of 10 people which includes our assistant director.

We are a team dedicated collectively in putting quality work out while servicing the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Our environment here is to strive to keep a work home healthy balance, a work environment that is supportive, moral building and strong working relationships. 

Management is supportive recognizing the efforts and dedication of those that work hard striving to meet tight deadlines and ensuring quality work output.

The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing that I work with an amazing group of people, all dedicated, fun to be around even when at times of chaos we still manage to keep the team moral good and tight. 

The hardest part of the job would be when at the end of the day 10 memo's super urgently needs quality control and processing when you're just about to leave the office.  But off with the coat know that it must be dealt with immediately.

I've learned that when people get together we become stronger and that most people are good.

on experience as a worker:

* The first thing we do is we conduct a toolbox meeting, then, explain the Tasks, work safety. 
* One I learned is to be the next to the Company's enforcement or in and respected with others.

*You are managing what the work and responsibility of a worker has been on.
*What I have learned. Even though different cultures have been with me at work.. Respect, obedience and respect for what they believe. 

* The hardest thing in my experience was losing my job. Because of this, it takes more money every day.. Because of the mistake at work, That's the reason for you to heal and fix it first so that it doesn't happen again. 

* The happiest part I experienced was finishing The project, which was safe, fast and quality

Certainly lives up to the stereotype of public service work, apart from the workload, which was very heavy, monotonous and slow due to outdated technology, inefficient and ineffective management strategies, and lack of innovation at all levels of the organization. Turnover times for clients were ridiculously long because of this, and at times I was embarrassed to have digital paper shuffling as the main task of my job. This, coupled with the fact that you cannot earn more than 2 weeks vacation for the first 7 years in the organization no matter how hard you work, and that everyone gets a raise regardless of performance, were enough to make me leave.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The location - right downtown close to MintoPlace.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
IT contractors are treated as 2nd class worker. No team atmosphere and very hard to get operation information. 



What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
All for themself - not a team environment.
It seems that everyone there is a Boss there... while I was there (6-month contract), I was reporting to 4 different peoples, all with different way to operate.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Store front daily operation - laptop recycling and updating.

I have been working at the client support centre (call centre) for nearly a year now and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. 

While the program itself is interesting, it quickly becomes redundant and it's clear that the only important thing to management are statistics. The schedule is closely monitored, everything is set to the very minute and there is little to no flexibility on any of it. Supervisors and managers forget that they started on the phone and treat us like children. 

This job sucks the soul out of you. If you're one of those people who need micromanagement and love talking all day, maybe it's for you.

In general, learning new things every day was exciting for me. The hardest part was my lack of knowledge of financial skills and the strongest parts were negotiation, communication, writing, and observation skills. However, the role of the supervisor was bold and s/he could make your day work terrible or enjoyable. And I suffer a lot and lost my job because of her wrong judgment and lack of knowledge of her role. 

Great internal team members. Hard work was rarely recognized sadly, and in order to move up in your position, you'd need an in with your manager's manager's manager, which was incredibly difficult given the amount of meetings people need to attend. In terms of personal growth, they did encourage education and provided time to study/work on what you're interested a couple hours per week. Work-life balance was respected, which is great. Benefits were also really good, as expected of a public sector role, but salary lags far, far, far behind inflation and in the competitive market outside. 

A clique working culture that is overrepresented, and largely controlled by, women.  Advancement to supervisor/managerial positions appears based on popularity regardless of experience and/or  education.  Most senior managers appear unable or unwilling to communicate effectively to staff.  A toxic and polluted working environment that sucks everything positive and vocationally advantageous out of you.  I would not recommend working for this department.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Edmonton office is a toxic workplace.  Everyone is high strung and every mistake is the end of the world, whether it really is or not.  The 'first day stress' lasts for years.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There are many initiatives to help improve the environment and culture, but it is mostly just starting committees.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Wonderful work environment. Always new things to learn and very team oriented. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Certain departments have high daily file goals that can be challenging to obtain. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Wonderful. Very accepting of everyone. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typical days are relaxed work environments. Working at my own pace to do my work and reach my goals.
