Having worked for INDOCHINO for a number of years, I have observed the company improve in terms of customer experience. Measuring clients, the shipping process, alterations and the entire appointment process are examples of areas that INDOCHINO has streamlined through enhancing its technology. The overall value proposition to customers has remained a good one and has generally improved. 

However, I have also noticed the company's internal decline which has, to some extent, manifested in lower sales and reduced employee morale. 

Long gone are the days when employees would receive incentives to create sales and foster genuine connections with the clientele. Nowadays, the job is really just that. You punch in, you take a few appointments, you tidy up the space, and you leave. From the perspective of a style guide/sales associate, the company doesn't really have a soul anymore.

INDOCHINO has also scaled back on the staff holiday party in recent years; not entirely sure if there will even be one this year. 

I find INDOCHINO also has an unholy obsession with monitoring the average order value of its employees. That's not to say that there is a reprimand for not meeting company targets. The problem here is that the company is so focused on quantitative data, that it completely fails to track qualitative figures. If there are very few appointments for the day, but the showroom manages to get decent walk-in traffic and converts these walk-ins into a few shirt orders and a few clearance suits, that's better than one high order for the entire day in my opinion. It is unclear to me if management teams pay close enough attention to how stylists develop relationships with their clients. It was more apparent in the past.

Management does not try to engage each level in meaningful dialogue about operations, showroom trends and other important factors. I guess they don't think style guide input is valuable. 

What's more is that internal promotion continues to be almost completely non-existent. If you start as a style guide, expect to remain one unless very specific circumstances (such as high employee turnover), grants you the leverage to seek advancement.

To be honest, I find that the Team Lead position involves fewer responsibilities and slightly higher pay. The relationship between a team lead and style-guides is similar to that of a fast-food shift manager and their general crew. 

I encourage students looking for a good part-time job, with decent and flexible working hours to apply. Otherwise, look elsewhere for a career. If you want to manage, apply for a Team Lead position on arrival. 

Also if you fit a very specific demographic, expect more opportunities to be thrust at you. I would elaborate more, but I think I'll leave it at that.

- The marginalization of sales associates beginning to trend higher 
- Lackluster incentives to sell

Indochino can be fun with the right team, and most of the time the job is stress-free with a lot of downtime since it is appointment based. The job itself requires strong customer service skills and the ability to maintain a good relationship with clients: on a busy day you may be talking and measuring from  6-7 people, and some clients are less pleasant to work with than others.  Mostly though you'll meet many friendly and nice clients who will make your day, and it is very fun most of the time.

Still, the company itself has absolutely no work culture to speak of, and as a style guide, you will have zero to no communication with upper management. However, you're still expected to deal with issues that are completely beyond your control. Issues with poor product quality have become more and more common, for example, as well as issues with shipping. This leads to multiple complaints directed at you and the showroom team, and there is very little support from management to help you deal with the anxiety and stress of dealing with angry clients. 

There are no company events, the bonus system is confusing and adds very little to the benefits of the job, and sales expectations change frequently. There is a high turnover rate as you'll not be paid a decent wage for the job you do, but you're still expected to provide excellent customer service anyway. Upward mobility is also difficult, and you'd be surprised at how little your pay will change once you move up. Most workers will quit as soon as they find a job with a more decent wage or will work part-time only. The free suits are a decent pro, but you'll eventually rather have a better job.

While employed at INDOCHINO I was able to work with the entire district, and Management team in the GTA. This opportunity was great, working with clients and being able to guide them in their made to measure experience was great. Unfortunately INDOCHINO management is more focused on. a few individuals in the business specifically those with prior work relationships with upper management. It is great to promote within, unfortunately INDOCHINO does not know how to do so. Majority of the current management have been brought over from Club Monaco and have been promoted, trained, empowered and treated far better than Long term INDOCHINO employees. Another crucial drawback would be the lack of infrastructure in the Toronto market. While Vancouver is the central hub, the Toronto Market and American market does not yet have a central customer are team. Finally, the most frustrating thing with this company is that they spread their employees thin, making employees bend over backwards for clients, other staff, in-house tailors, management, scheduling without adequate promotions or compensation. Management will avoid planing promotions, instead they focus on keeping you in your current role. Promotion within is important, I understand that their are talented individuals which work for Club Monaco and Guess, however the turn over will not end unless you promote within.

Everything about this job description is a lie, particularly the "about us" portion.  
It sounds engaging when in reality, all they want you to do is alter poor quality suits pinned by people with no training. There is no appreciation for an expert opinion, no will to improve, and no reward for being engaged and helpful. All talk of promotion and advancement is lip-service to see how long they can string you along in your current position while giving title-only promotions to people they think are more gullible.
The physical environment is dirty and poorly cared for, machinery, chairs and basic tools are poor quality or completely absent. The year I spent at Indochino wast was a soul-crushing and made me think about changing professions entirely. Do not work here.

I would recommend this position to those in school for business, retail, communications or customer service as it is very accommodating scheduling wise. Those who don't mind working in fashion / retail, who like talking to people will do well here. 

Don't expect a high pay. Expect hard work, long hours, annoying clients and endless rudeness and belittling from the head office management. 

Overall the company culture is poor and does not foster internal growth as they claim to do. Many reviews on other sites are fake and not genuine to the workplace..as they have been drafted by the HQ.

You will meet some amazing people and become close friends with your co-workers. Sadly, the shared bond is the frustration with the company and its issues that get ignored.

The work is stressful you have one hour to work with customers in an appointment but you also have multiple pieces of information to log into customer profiles in that same hour which is usually not enough time, 

The managers are lazy and like to hand off work to the partime employees. 

Their is no constructive criticism and you usually wont know if you are moving in the right direction because they do not help you grow as an employee. 

i learned to manage my time and how to interact with different types of customers and meet their needs.

Basically you are under paid for the work that you have to do.

You can meet amazing clients that truly appreciate the end result, your time and knowledge.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Maintaining healthy KPI's while selling with integrity. Along with poor management.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not desirable, favoritism is a big factor.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Anywhere from empty to fully or double booked, which adds to stress. Showroom typically only has one staff member working at a time with slight overlap between shifts.

Unique retail experience, the biggest take away and upside to working here is that the company is constantly evolving being a younger company. However, over the past couple years it has become top heavy and support to showrooms has dampened as the company expands. Communication at corporate is lacking, with little accountability. 

Great learning experience, with more responsibility and duties expected of style guides compared to traditional retail sales associates there's opportunity for more reasonable compensation.

Fast paced, 1 hour appointments and at times can be overwhelming. Managers who like to micromanage and  have no real people skills. No commission and low rate of pay

The title says it all. INDOCHINO is a company that doesn't really care about their employees. I've worked here for 3 years and my efforts were never appreciated. You do a job that's worth more than a minimum wage but no raise were given at all. They don't take care of their employees, they're only there for money. You get free suits, work your butt off and pretty much go unappreciated. They appreciate those in the head more who does absolutely nothing than those who do ground work.
