Industrial Paramedic Services

IPS was very responsive to my needs and provided all necessary equipment to properly perform my duties. None of the equipment was out of date and the trucks were newer and in good condition. 
Supervisory staff responded well to requests or concerns. 
Safety of IPS staff is of a high importance and thoroughly reviewed both onsite and in the office as well as travel to and from assignments. 
However, I was injured on the job site over a year ago and have had little to no contact with the DXP(parent company) Health and Safety Manager. I don’t feel that I am well respected with DXP. 
Pay is reasonable and appears to be consistent with industry standards although you are considered casual therefore there are no benefits available. 
In all, my experience with IPS has been for the most part positive. 

They get their clients by undercutting the competition. Which secures them a lot of contracts apparently. They will offer you the "average" day rate in relation to other companies but what you realize after is that it's actually significantly less because they offer a "BONUS" that makes up the rest. For example, an EMR makes 225-250 everywhere else but in IPS you make 200 with 25$ being the BONUS. 

It is NOT a BONUS if its given as part of your dayrate. Also, they will find any and EVERY reason to take away your bonus over anything they wish. Be it being a little over the speed limit, them not properly training you and say you didnt do your due diligence. Every "mistake" that you make is 25% of your bonus - paid out quarterly.

They do have good medics, but the management is just ridiculous and they are quickly burning out their dispatch staff, They used to be good and the relatively new one is still is but the veteran dispatch has become bitter towards medics and seems really burnt out.

I was working as a Medical Technician, testing workers at oil and gas sites for Covid19.  This work consists of very long hours, 12 hour days and longer when workers are coming in late due to bad weather, which is commonplace.  By the time you get to your hotel, you're too tired to make a decent meal.  Most workers are nice, but there are others who, in the case of a deadly virus, believe the anti-vaccination misinformation and are more than happy to pass their ill-informed detritus on to you.  We are not permitted to engage these people in that conversation.

Now that Coid19 testing is done, it's super nice to go to these worksites as a medic.

This company is BRUTAL when it comes to communication, preparation, training, timely solutions, I can go on and on. They have zero compassion for staff, only care about the bottom line and will throw you under the bus and make you look bad to clients. 

There is absolutely no organization when it comes to scheduling and dispatch and will bring in a new hire for every gap instead of working out a schedule with current staff. They don’t prepare you for what you’ll need in the field and can’t tell you what you can expect at each worksite. 

They are incredibly poorly run. They need a major lesson in business and to learn how to manage a company. 

DO NOT RECOMMEND. 

Shottiest medic company around. 

a typical work day includes, safety meetings, company orientations, informing visitors of site protocols, being prepared at all times for any medical concerns. I have learned strong communication skills, medical practices and safety insurance. The hardest part of the job is never knowing what injuries to expect, they can range from a paper cut to a body bag. The most enjoyable part of the job is helping others and continuing to learn and understand new practices as well as growing strong bonds between the crew and upper management.

Management is poor, they lack support for their employees. Very unappriciative and do not care about their employees. There is no job security with this company. If you are looking for a supportive work environment, with management who care about their staff this is not the company for you. 
FYI There is more to employment than money, and this company does not see that.

remote work, on site 24/7. 
start day off with safety meeting in the early am. get the daily tasks

orientate onsite visitors, checking their tickets
site walk abouts, keeping an eye on safety issues,
access any injuries, monitor health issues. 
fill out needed paper work and submit it in a timely manner.

it was an interesting job in that you travel to very remote locations. seen some amazing scenery and meet interesting people

delivered unmanned units out to different Rig site locations.
took out Medical Supplies to Medics
Shop Maintenance Helper
Washed and Cleaned trucks in the shop
Removed all Decals when they came into be taken back to Calgary
Seen lots of Country side from British Columbia to Ft. MacMurray and Calgary South.
Worked in the Office as Receptionist filling in when needed.
Management & Co-workers were awesome to work with

Unfortunately management is a little out of touch with front line employees. Attempt to with hokd payment based on their bonus systeml. However this protocol is ilegal and  not followed appropriately so employees have taken to civil court in the past. 

Has extremely poorntraining system, (performed in 3 hpurs) then became upset when certain protocols that were skipped in training were not followed. One of the lower paying industrial companies, much better options available.

Good money and nice co-workers. Horrible management and support for staff. Gossiping about staff and their personal lives seems to be a big trend for this company. No respect for field staff or their free time. Communication needs to be something office and upper management have to work on. But problems with head office is also frequent when you do try to get to talk to someone. With no success.
