I genuinely enjoyed working in this role and found the team dynamic to be supportive and positive. Upper management was approachable and helpful, and the workplace culture overall was welcoming and inclusive.

That said, there are some significant challenges in the structure of the Store Manager position. One of the biggest concerns is the limited hours allocated for staffing. This constraint makes it very difficult to hire and maintain a properly balanced team, which often results in the manager shouldering the extra workload. Over time, this leads to burnout and a poor work-life balance.

Additionally, the role lacks the typical autonomy expected of a manager. Key decisions around staffing and team structure are often made or overridden by upper management, which limits the ability to respond to issues in real-time and develop a strong, efficient team. In my experience, this approach hinders store performance and can be frustrating for those who take pride in leading and developing staff.

For someone with minimal outside obligations, this role may be more manageable. However, as a parent of a child with autism, the inflexible structure has made it incredibly difficult to balance personal responsibilities with the demands of the job. I’ve had to reschedule numerous developmental appointments and family events, and have often worked on my days off to cover for call-outs — all of which has taken a toll in just six months.

I now better understand the high turnover rate for the Store Manager position. With improvements to scheduling flexibility, increased staffing hours, and more decision-making authority for managers, this could be a truly sustainable and fulfilling role.

At the heart of the matter lies the issue of compensation. Despite the tireless efforts of its employees, the prospect of a raise at Inspired Cannabis Co. remains as elusive as the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Promises of performance-based incentives evaporate into thin air, leaving employees disillusioned and demotivated. As the cost of living continues to rise, the stagnation of wages only serves to deepen the sense of frustration and resentment among the workforce.

Equally disheartening is the state of management within the company. Decisions are made arbitrarily, devoid of foresight or strategic planning. Employee concerns are routinely dismissed, fostering a culture of alienation and distrust. Instead of nurturing talent and fostering collaboration, management at Inspired Cannabis Co. perpetuates an atmosphere of dysfunction and discord, stifling innovation and hindering progress.

The consequences of this toxic environment are manifold, none more pronounced than the company's alarmingly high turnover rate. Talented individuals, disenchanted by broken promises and subpar working conditions, seek refuge elsewhere, leaving behind a void that is difficult to fill. The revolving door of recruitment and departures not only incurs financial costs but also erodes the company's ability to cultivate a cohesive and high-performing team.

The company started off strong and the vision and culture was there... for a short time. When they began they had a goal to pay "above average" wages, which was great in theory. However they quickly realized that every dollar saved is more in their pockets so the goal quickly changed. They pay as little as possible and expect the job to be your life. No support, high expectations and swift and unexplained lay-offs. Not to mention empty promises for growth when the reality is if you don't drink the kool-aid than you are out of luck.  If you're a true cannabis enthusiast who loves cannabis this is not the place for you. Integrity is everything, but is what is lacking most at Inspired Cannabis (head office level). It's all about $, quality is not a factor. Stick with the mom and pop shops if you want to support those who have a love and respect for cannabis and it's people (whether it's customers or employees). 

This company is just starting to get into more of the corporate vast. With that being said, there are a lot of learning opportunities, product knowledge, and education that is being provided for staff, mangers  for development of skill. They invest their time to those that have shown they are depicted to the job. 

The team I’ve had the pleasure of working with provide an inclusive, fun and supportive environment.

 Contest for loyalty sign up, upselling along with units per transaction so this company gives back where ever they can. Monthly taster packs provided so you aways can be kept in the know for new and exciting products. 



Overall, I would say that the owner does care about the people, however I wouldn’t say that anyone else in the company does. It is very disorganized, and it seems to be catty. It feels like being back in high school again. Being in stores is great, the customers are great and most of the people working at store levels awesome, but I wouldn’t be looking to advance, or come here as anything more than a part time job. The company has very poor communication, and they are always looking to cut corners. It is the smallest wage budget I have ever seen in my retail career. At this point, the company cares more about money then the people that work for them. You get little to no say in the product on your shelves, as they prioritize partnerships with no benefits to staff. The pay is not enough. 

The shop level teams are fine, however upper management provides no honest praise, spread rumors, and play favorites'. They kill everything they touch.

From my experience, and what I've gathered from past employees, is that this company and their branches (Imagine Cannabis and Dutch Love) will support and foster your role in the company, maybe even promote or offer raises, but when they realize that you have alternative opinions or leadership styles, they will not hesitate to move onto the next. It's sad to say someone who spent 50-60 hrs/week in a pot shop could feel like they weren't working hard enough. Do not work here if you are someone who naturally cares about your peers and/or your own fluxuating mental/physical health.

The company who gives a lot gets a lot! Everyone on the leadership team are dedicated individuals who are willing to pivot and change with industry standards. The company is constantly re-evaluating where they sit in relation to other cannabis companies and really like to invest in their staff! They are always available for support. They are always looking for feedback and adapting to making the Inspired Cannabis a great place to work!   I feel like I am respected in my position and my work is appreciated. I genuinely enjoy the position, company and industry. 

I’ve been here for almost 18 months and I have nothing but good things to say about working for this company. Management is phenomenal. Everyone is so supportive and willing to help employees persevere in every aspect. Depending on the day you can either be running around the shop helping customers or it could be a slow day and all you do is clean the shop:) I have met so many amazing people and have learned so much in this industry in the time that I’ve worked here. Wouldn’t trade it for anything! Definitely recommend working for this company if you’re looking for a part time job! 

Overall I had a good experience. Awesome owners, fun environment (when busy), good support from other managers and upper management. 

The downsides: 
- Scheduling requirements for managers (working most weekends, lots of evenings) 
- upper management, while very nice people, are too corporate and not enough cannabis. They’re essentially trying to turn cannabis into every other faceless retail entity. 
- lack of culture - what was there came from the top down and felt forced. 
- Very tight budgets for product selection

All in all I had a good experience, but I ended up leaving in favour of a local business that could offer a lot more. 

A typical day for a Keyholder consists of helping customers, working on daily tasks, and closing / opening the store. Inspired Cannabis is a great place to work because they ensure you’re learning about the ever growing industry of Cannabis! The hardest part of the job for me would be when I’m working alone and it gets busy. The nice thing is that most of our customers are very easy going and understandable. I love having regulars who I’m on a first name basis with! And teaching new customers about our store and why we are so different from other dispensaries.
