Great starting position for fresh grads in Finance/Accounting.  This is a pre-approved position for CPA designations.  The company encourages buddy system when it comes to taking courses in the CPA program.  There are several accountants who already have their designations and readily available as your mentors.

Annual reviews are based on what other people think of you.  Maintaining relationships with your colleagues is very important!

The experience you gain here as an accountant will help you everywhere else you go in the future.

What is the best part of working at the company?
You get paid its a job. Not much else is good

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Managers are regional so you never meet them really. You just have a group of people thinking they are in charge when they are not makes for a terrible environment 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Terrible they have the clique of people who have been their forever everyone else is second class

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Selling insurance and doing 3 peoples work cux they are too bisy on their high chair

Being part of a larger organization has its benefits, but personal experiences will be largely based on the individual office that you are in as each office is managed separately. I have worked at different locations and the experiences have been both pleasant and frustrating. There can be some flexibility to move between locations and Insurebc does try to provide a rewarding community work atmosphere with incentives and events.

If you have no experience and need a job, try here. Most locations are always under staff so you'll get hired and put to work right away. Great if you are a self-motivator cuz you really need to be one. There is limited support and training. Salary is low but for sure you get paid on time and benefits is fair. Being part of a big company, there're opportunities to move between locations and positions, but you need to be upper manager's pet. Overall, a sad and toxic culture that wears you down.

InsureBC does not value HR at all in their company, HR is used to do all the admin work and support payroll.

The people I worked with were pleasant, but it always felt like I was expected to know things after being shown once. I constantly felt judged by my employer, and like their expectations were too high based on my prior experience. I didn't feel I could ask questions, as I would constantly be treated like I was dumb as a result of doing so, and my boss would huff and give all sorts of non-verbal queues of frustration over my not instantly knowing everything about the position.

The office I worked at was good. You get your own book of business so you are independently working, but you can always ask your or manager for assistance. Everyone there is pretty easy to get along with.  The company is big, but the office is small so you kinda get the best of both worlds. They have many offices and if I did not move to Toronto, I could have seen myself continuing with the company.

The company pay very low salary! You won’t get to have opportunities to grow or to move up, unless you are regional manager ‘s pet!   Most of their offices currently have under staff and have inexperienced employees!   They rather let you leave the company and hire an inexperienced one than giving you a raise!  They believes they can replace any employee!  Everyone is replaceable!  Don’t work here!

Some offices are great and if you’re a good at working independently it can be a decent job but don’t expect any help from upper management. They always have an excuse when there are problems and often blame the staff without addressing the real issue. Training is almost non-existent and there is very little help available.

Would recommend if you are starting in insurance because you get to learn different insurance products, work ethics alongside nice co-workers.
