A typical day at work involves creating documents and meeting with stakeholders and operations representatives. I have learned that things take time and that you need a well thought out process in order to achieve your goals and objectives. 

Management is supportive of health and safety related matters and their is a strong safety culture at my current employer.

My co-workers are dedicated and very skilled at their niche profession. The hardest part of my job is the amount of travel required. I have a young family and would like to reduce that if possible. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is when I have provided results from occupational hygiene monitoring to the workers and they understand the importance of ensuring that they are adequately protected.

Pre Brookfield was an amazing place to work. Since their takeover it has eroded significantly. Leadership within pipeline operations is a mess, largely due to one VP who has single-handedly destroyed the culture. Cronyism rules, while they packaged out long term employees and hired buddies and their children. Literally kids placed in safety sensitive roles with zero experience while cutting other positions. Then have the audacity to role out an employee survey focused on why moral is so poor. Wow. Run, don’t walk, away from this unmitigated disaster of a company.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people are pretty good to work with. Decent benefits. 


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Leadership is poor. There is not a clear sense of direction for the company. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
This new culture is very “siloed “, Isolated and boring

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stuck in my office all day pretty much.

I am a fairly low level employee here however see how poorly the new owners have treated the business and individuals who built the company. I am certainly in the market for a new place to work to get out of this mess while I still can.

The plant is an amazing place to work. 
It has been sold several times, so head office dynamics have changed and have been inconsistent and has caused some “disconnects” and political tension

That being said, the people at the plant are very collaborative and supportive. Just focused on getting the job done.

Overall, very rewarding work

I feel very privileged to be an employee of Inter Pipeline. I am supported as an employee and also encouraged to grow. I feel heard when I have ideas and respected. I would recommend anyone who is driven and a team player to apply to this company.

During my time there I was constantly impressed by the caliber of individuals and their work. There was contact and sharing of information between departments in order to make the most well-informed choices possible. In CCC the captains cared about the outcome but were not destructive to their teammate in tough situations.

At the moment after the takeover the company is way too lean.  People are expected to work overtime regularly and I know numerous employee's who pull "all nighters" just to provide work based on the ridiculous timeframes put forward from management.

VPs and upper management have also been actively yelling at people in meetings despite no expertise in areas themselves.

If you do not value safety or morality and have a yes boss attitude then this is the company for you! This is possibly the industries worst company as far as amature engineering, progammers and middle management.

Solid corporation with diverse assets.

They take excellent care of their employees; Lunch room has table tennis and televisions, fruit baskets and coffee are supplied, benefits packages, lunchtime yoga, pilates, and spin classes.

If you have a chance to work for IPL I would recommend it.
