Working at IERHA has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From the moment I joined, I was welcomed into a supportive and collaborative environment where everyone is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our community members. The leadership team fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging employees to explore new ideas and implement best practices to enhance patient care.

One of the things I appreciate most about working here is the sense of purpose that comes with knowing that our work directly impacts the health and well-being of our community. Whether it's providing compassionate patient care, conducting research, or developing new programs to address healthcare disparities, every day presents an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

Additionally, the regional health authority prioritizes employee development and wellness, offering ample opportunities for professional growth and a comprehensive benefits package that supports both physical and mental well-being. From ongoing training and education to wellness programs and employee assistance resources, the organization truly cares about the holistic health of its staff.

Overall, working at our regional health authority has been an inspiring and fulfilling journey, and I feel privileged to be part of a team that is dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes and making a positive impact on the lives of others.

The union agreement ensures that pay and benefit obligations are met, but outside of this I do not recommend working for the IERHA due to their culture and inflexible mindset of managment. The culture at most sites is toxic and there are often clicks which lead to bullying. Managment and senior staff are  not well trained in terms of managment skills and are unsupportive of accommodation requests even basics that are common place in other sites and do not cause undue hardship. In my experience they seem to favor the bullies over the bullied to keep staffing. In their eyes it's easier to keep the group of attackers and lose the one, than vice versa.  I actually over heard this conversation between two hr reps in my own orientation. Everyone else had gone for coffee and they didnt realise I was still sitting in the room. 

I personally have dealt with issues of gang mentality when there is a concern brought up and have now had several peers and friends who have had the same treatment to the point of nearing human rights complaints and being ostracized. 

I recommend to proceed with caution and document every interaction with management and senior staff. Also advocate with you union rep ASAP when there are issues.

My overall experience working in my department at the Ierha wasn’t a pleasant experience. There is a lot of gossip and drama and very poor management. The manager is unsuccessful at answering certain questions or concerns as they are not equipped for the job. The company says they are working on changes to the company to better everyone’s mental health and moral. Nothing ever changes. From the time I had started till the day I departed nothing ever changed or had a positive outcome. It’s unfortunate, as I feel the residents deserve more. 

My time at the Interlake-Eastern RHA has given me an opportunity to really grow my skills. I've been supported in many ways and often feel recognized for my work. Many of the individuals I work with embody the organizations values of Collaboration and Respect on a daily basis.

As a rural RHA, the region can encounter many issues as a result of geography. This can be problematic when it comes to overseeing staff, however I think the teams of the region do their best to overcome these challenges and work together to solve problems.

The Interlake-Eastern RHA is a great place to hone skills, and grow as a healthcare professional.

My favourite part of working at IERHA is my co-workers and the varied projects I get to be a part of. Everday I learn something new. It also allows me the flexibility to work from home or work in office when needed. In addition, I've enrolled in leadership and cultural training opportunities that help me grow as an employee. 

Worked for them 8 years. Loved my work until a few months before I left. Lack of structure, constant changes, never knowing if someone else would come in. People in the building where I worked were great, management not so much. Ended up leaving due to depression and getting panic attacks after years of being comfortable with prior manager. 

I have enjoyed being employed by ierha for years now!
While being employed by them I have been responsible for the following :
•	Provide various types of care for Seniors in their homes
•	Experience with Palliative Care
•	Assist with Activities of Daily Living
•	Administering Medications
•	Assisting with proper lifts and transfers of clients

There is very poor behaviour from management, sometimes almost childish. Workplace culture is toxic. It is known all over that this region is problematic. Would not recommend anyone to work there, lots of back stabbers. The hardest part of the job was not sure who to trust and who not to. No enjoyment at this job at all

Hardest part of the job is having management recognize you are people! They will push and push and then wonder why you get sick. 
They forget how hard you have been working before you need a break. 

Get up early get ready leave lots of time to get there in time for shift I’ve learned CPR and AED in acute hardest is say goodbye most enjoyable is meeting new people taking care of their needs they love when you smile even holding their hand when their scared
