Training is easily accessible and there is always somebody to turn to when in need of direction. Safety oriented coworkers and Forman's. I wish there was more work for the painters throughout the year and better communication between union and it's members. 

If you NEED a job you will likely get hired on but only come here if your back is against the wall. You will be recognized as a warm body and not a person. The employers will offer fake bonuses and incentives just to get the job done quickly but will leave you out to dry once they’re done with you. If you like relying on EI for some of the year with absolutely no guarantee of work at any given time then you’ll like this union.

i fell 7 feet off a later my union rep was not thair for me i was seriisly injured an was basicaly forced to work the next day after two months my boss from nothern painters said he didnt have any work for me yet he hired two people from union hall i waas serisly screwed out of my job ken burley did nothing to help me recover from injuries

A typical day at work is a busy time with multiple tasks and use of aquired skills such as preparing surfaces and coating them. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to interact with my co-workers while staying busy. Also having my fellow members elect me to the local executive board.

Great training courses and excellent benefits as you learn more about the trade and put your hours of work and training required to move forward advance you in the career. 

Many people believe that painting is easy, but when your workingf comercialy it is hard work, particularly when working on brand new condos, hotels, and many other job sites. What makes things great, is when you see the final job.

I enjoyed working for the union as the work was more steady.  If there was not a job one day - the union would help to place its employees the next day.  I felt I had reasonable job security.

I have been employed with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades for years and they are a great employer. I have had the opportunity to complete Trade school and learn invaluable skills in my trade.

The IUPAT is a great place to work! with a pension and benefits for your entire family. Your well looked after and that is very important in today's volatile economy.
