Working at Inteva taught me a few things.
1. The only thing that matters is results.
2. You could be the quietest, most punctual and apt individual in the workplace and that still wouldn't stop Management from finding your flaws.
3. Workplace harassment isn't something to work through, but work around.

The facility I worked at was unionized and it was here that I learned about my rights as an employee. There was a harassment committee introduced in the final year of our employment because floor supervisors weren't very good at supervising anything but results or lack there of. That's not to say there weren't good people who worked in these positions, but you could tell that the pressure very much rolled downhill. The top dogs wanted results at all costs which resulted in neglected safety, human resource work arounds and a very untrusting work environment between union and company. 

It wasn't all bad, the pay was decent at best. Benefits package, decent enough "retirement" package. PPE supplies at no cost to us including a work boot allowance. Most of management were nice enough for the most part unless there were disruptions in production such as unforeseen quality defects, accidental user error, or even just downtime from our suppliers. If the numbers were good, we were all fine. If the numbers weren't good, no matter the reason, the workers were at fault, or so it felt.

Being a unionized shop, the rhetoric in the building was very uncensored to say the least. Hyperbolic rumors and loud mouth confrontational coworkers who enjoyed riling people up to distract from the monotony. Mind you, this workforce was imported from a company that previously closed so I don't think the toxic social work environment was entirely on Intevas shoulders, but they definitely didn't do much to mitigate any of it on the floor.

All in all, in my experience only, the company paid you for a job, and that's all they cared about. They couldn't care less about employer/employee relations, socially acceptable standards in the workplace or any respect for workplace harassment protocols. 

So yeah, it's a gamble.

repetitive work, mind games, favoritism, are the three things that come to mind when I think of a typical day at this business.

I learned how to bite my tongue and keep my head down.

Management was an old boys club.

The culture was hostile, overtly so sometimes.

The hardest part of the job was trying to be respectful to people who do not have any respect for you.

No one ever knows what kind of security there is that you will have work in the future, or if you should move to Mexico where they send our work.

The most enjoyable parts were the pay, benefits, and some of the people.

Interesting work, but extremely difficult politics.  Corporate level support is non existent and there is a lot of posturing for the sake of one department looking better than another.

This company is broken from the top down, and it's unfortunate, because IT in an automotive environment is an interesting and exciting field - if only you didn't have to deal with a poisonous workplace and constant reminders about how replaceable you are.

Excellent day to day work environment with many different jobs to learn and ample opportunities to learn as many jobs as you would like.  The management and immediate supervisors are very easy to work with and approach.  The co workers are very pleasant to work with on a day to day basis, with the exception of a few.  The hardest part of the job was keeping it.  (low seniority).  The most enjoyable part was the co workers.

Your days felt like they dragged on because the work was pretty mindless. Management was horrible, they always made you feel like you were nothing. They used their power to their advantage and some were disrespectful. The union for this company is a poor excuse for a union. They don't protect you when needed. They only want the money they we paid for the union and that's it.

I enjoyed working at Inteva Products. The work was challenging until I was fully trained on the jobs. After training the work is fun and stress-free.  You are responsible for your own jobs but, there is also a team dynamic that is nice.  Your supervisor is always present but, if you do your job correctly, you can avoid them having to speak to you.

It’s very satisfying and relaxing!!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Same thing day in and day out!

Inexperienced management receives a great deal of pressure from corporate management to make a flawed business model work. All that pressure/unrealistic expectation is then filtered down onto subordinates. You are expected to work here for long hours without compensation and any questioning of that policy will result in immediate hostility from both HR and management.

Inteva had a variety of jobs, and they had reasonable targets to achieve. The coworkers worked really well together, even if in separate work stations. Communication with my fellow coworkers was essential when relaying any issues during installation of parts in a timely manner. Team leaders would need to be involved if there were any issues online.

i have worked in the automotive industry for the last 20 years doing many different types of jobs. i have work a fast paced assembly line,  operated fork lifts, supervisor, shipping receiving and various  management roles. i enjoy talking with people and have great verbal communication skills.
