A typical day consists of doing a circle check to make sure the vehicle is safe to go on the road.  Then you go out to do your route to pick up children and take them to school.  You have the rest of the day to yourself unless you are booked for a charter.  The next thing you do is go back to the school and pick up the children to take them home.

You can learn a lot while driving a bus.  Winter is a total pain because the cars park on both sides of the streets and when you try to get down the street and squeeze a bus between cars, it's next to impossible.

I find management very understanding and helpful.

The hardest part of the job is the winter.  The most enjoyable part if the job is when you see the children smiling and knowing that sometimes you have a great impact on their lives.

The company has been in transportation of children for years and have a genuine interest  in doing it well.  From the hands on owner whom you could talk to anytime to the supportive dispatchers, staff was all great.  Equipment was well maintained and the vehicles were fueled for you unlike many companies today.  Buses were even started on cool mornings and when it snowed over night they were cleaned off when drivers arrived in morning. People liked this company so much that they actually had a number of spare drivers on site every morning in the event a driver had a last minute emergency.

It is rare nowadays to find a company that actually cares about their employees but Iron Range Bus Lines Inc. treats everybody like family and will always assist every way they can to help make things run smoothly. Management is fantastic and friendly which makes the communication seamless.

Good place to work, but can get tough with runs being taken from you by senior workers. This can be hard if you have frown attached to your run and kids.

If you love children and driving then this job is for you. It can be stressful at times. Driving conditions can be brutal. The pay is not that great..

they treat their employees like family, and not just a number like the multinational bus companies.  They also offer some of the highest driver wages in Ontario.  Great place to work.

Management is lacking cooperation with staff very low pay no support from staff busses are in terrible shape not repaired properly lacking company direction

Great place to work.  It is a great place to work if you enjoy working and interacting with children.  You will require to have defensive driving skills and be able to handle stress.

Iron Range is a family owned and operated bus line in Thunder Bay, ON.  It's a good place to work if you're looking for part time employment.

I really like all the people here.  Very solid people.  I like chatting with them, getting to know then or joking around.  Good morale and nothing too stressful.
