A typical day involves balancing both strategic planning and operational execution across multiple teams. My role spans scheduling oversight, contract administration, and forward planning for current and upcoming projects and at occasional civil engineering consultations. I work closely with the scheduling team to ensure programs are accurate, realistic, and aligned with site realities, while also collaborating with the contracts department on procurement, contract reviews, and risk management. A significant part of my focus is spent coordinating rolling project plans in conjunction with the CEO, COO, and department heads, ensuring alignment between company objectives, resources, and timelines. The role requires constant prioritization, cross-department communication, and adaptability, as no two days are ever the same.

Over the past five years, I have learned far more than technical and contractual skills. I’ve developed a strong understanding of how projects function holistically, from early planning and procurement to execution and close-out. I’ve learned how critical clear communication, stakeholder alignment, and realistic planning are to project success. Professionally, progressing from Project Coordinator to Pre-Construction Manager has strengthened my leadership, decision-making, and accountability. On a personal level, having started this role shortly after immigrating to Canada, I’ve learned resilience, adaptability, and confidence, culminating in achieving my Professional Engineering registration mid-last year.

Management has provided opportunities for growth, responsibility, and trust over the years, which I value greatly. Being promoted into a pre-construction leadership role two years ago allowed me to contribute more strategically to the business. At times, the dual reporting structure, reporting directly to the COO for scheduling and planning, and functionally to the Director of Contracts, can create competing priorities and challenges in decision-making. However, this structure has also pushed me to develop strong coordination, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills while working across leadership functions.

The workplace culture is fast-paced, collaborative, and performance-driven. There is a strong emphasis on accountability and results, which suits individuals who are motivated and willing to take ownership of their work. I’ve had the opportunity to work with knowledgeable professionals across departments, and the exposure to senior leadership has been invaluable for my professional development. The environment encourages learning through real responsibility rather than theory alone.

The most challenging aspect of my role is managing competing priorities across departments while operating within a dual reporting structure. Balancing long-term planning with immediate operational pressures can be demanding, particularly when expectations differ between functional and direct reporting lines. The role also carries a high level of responsibility, as contracts, planning and scheduling decisions have company-wide implications.

The most enjoyable part of the job is contributing to the bigger picture of the company’s success. Being involved in early-stage planning, strategic discussions, and rolling project plans gives me a sense of ownership and impact. Leading and supporting the scheduling team, collaborating with executive leadership, and seeing projects progress from concept to execution is highly rewarding. Personally, the journey from being new to Canada in 2020 to growing into a leadership role and earning my P.Eng. has made this experience especially meaningful.

On a daily basis, I stay actively engaged with all trades to make sure nothing stands in their way of accomplishing their work. Clear and consistent communication is something I take pride in, as keeping everyone informed helps prevent issues and keeps the site running smoothly and efficiently.
This environment may not always be a traditional learning space, since most tradespeople are highly skilled and experienced in their fields. That said, I truly believe there is always value in listening and staying open-minded. Any opportunity to learn from others — no matter how small — can be beneficial, and I welcome that input as part of my own growth.
In my opinion, management plays a huge role in shaping workplace culture. The attitude, work ethic, and overall behavior on site often reflect leadership. On this project, safety is always the top priority, followed closely by productivity and quality. That balance creates a strong, positive foundation and sets clear expectations for everyone involved.
One of the more challenging — yet rewarding — aspects of my role is bringing multiple trades together and getting everyone aligned. When buy-in is achieved and a plan comes together seamlessly, it creates a smooth flow on site and a real sense of accomplishment. Seeing a plan execute successfully gives me a strong feeling of pride and reinforces how meaningful my role is within the team.
I believe growth comes from staying open to change and listening to everyone’s perspective. As the saying goes, old doors don’t open new opportunities — and maintaining that mindset motivates me to continue learning, improving, and contributing every day.

This company used to be good to work for (before they brought in the “corporate” culture). There are many material perks for working here.. cups, pins, jackets, gift cards, contests, etc. However, the unwritten expectation to “always be on” is extremely taxing and draining on your mental health. Unfortunately, there is no training so you’re left to your own devices to either sink or swim. HR can be very dismissive when dealing with staff and unresponsive to certain requests. There are good department managers here that try their best to keep their teams balanced to avoid burnout, but unfortunately, staff can be put in very challenging situations and left with no choice but to “work until it’s done.” There is a lot of fear mongering here - mainly related to staff being afraid to reach out to HR because they don’t want to be “seen as a problem.” Very high staff turnover, with many good people leaving due to burnout or lack of flexibility (hybrid work environment).

The company as a whole (policy wise, workload wise, training wise, process wise) still has a lot of work to do. However, the employees in each production department are very talented and hard working people that are currently working towards improving these things. Growth isn’t a straight line and can be messy - so perhaps when all the kinks are worked out, Ironclad as a whole will be a well-oiled machine. 

I have been with Ironclad Properties for 5 years, and it has truly been a positive and rewarding experience. One of the biggest things that stands out about the company is the culture. Employees are treated with respect, supported in their roles, and genuinely made to feel heard.

The leadership team is approachable, encouraging, and always willing to listen to feedback or provide guidance when needed. There is a strong sense of teamwork throughout the company, and morale is consistently positive, which makes for a great work environment.

Ironclad also offers a variety of employee programs and initiatives that show they care about their staff both professionally and personally. It’s refreshing to work for a company that invests in its employees and values their contributions.

After 5 years, I can confidently say I still feel supported, appreciated, and motivated to grow within the company. I would highly recommend Ironclad Properties to anyone looking for a workplace with strong leadership, a positive atmosphere, and opportunities for development.

I've been working for IronClad for over 3 years and the company has grown leaps and bounds and is one of the fastest growing organizations in Canada. 
The owners continually show their appreciation for employees whether it be thru company events, lunches provided during the week, benefits and profit sharing and being recognized for a job well done. They are open to your ideas and thoughts and value their employees at every level. 
No workplace is perfect but each department strives to work well with each other. You do feel like part of a family working here where we are all working toward the same goals. We love to laugh and it's quite exciting to be constantly learning, adding to your skill set and traveling to new markets.

Was with Ironclad for around 5 years in winnipeg and got to work on a bunch of their projects over the years. Honestly it was a great crew and a solid place to work, really enjoyed my time at ICD and hoping to make my way back one day. 

They actually look after their site staff too, stuff like a boot allowance at marks makes a big difference for us and the anniversary gift program was sweet. Random site lunches on fridays or slurpees and gatorade on hot days was always really appreciated. Site staff got paid sick time too which you don't see everywhere and it is appreciated. If we had to stay late for hoarding, pour or turnover they would bring in supper which was always nice and the company events were always super fun. 

Missing Ironclad these days and hope to be back down the road. Appreciate all that you guys do, it really is a great place to work. 

I'm also very surprised with the reviews this company has been given. I've been in an office environment for 12 years and  have been at Ironclad a year now and it's been the best company I've worked for. I always feel valued and my hard work is always appreciated. 

The recognition that the employers give their employees is above average. They give cakes and cards to each employee on their Birthday. I feel the management and CEO are always in tune and care for the well being of each of their employees. They have a free lunch program Mon-Fri. (No charge to the employee) They have multiple events during the year to recognize hard work. And I should also mention the great benefit package, mileage reimbursement, and RRSP program. 

I find it to be a very good team atmosphere! Even know the there is growth, the company still upholds it's family oriented culture.

A typical day at work is always productive and fulfilling. I enjoy the balance between teamwork and individual tasks, and I feel supported to do my best. I’ve learned a lot not just about the job itself, but also about communication, problem-solving, and staying organized. Management is approachable and respectful, always ready to guide without micromanaging. The workplace culture is welcoming, encouraging, and truly feels like a place where everyone wants to see each other succeed.

The hardest part of the job is sometimes managing busy periods, but even then, the team works together and it makes everything easier. The most enjoyable part of the job is the positive environment and the sense of accomplishment at the end of each day. Overall, I genuinely enjoy being here and I’m happy to be part of this team.


I've been involved in the construction world for years with various companies both in the private and public sectors. Ironclad has by far been the best company I've been with. 
The company is growing in leaps and bounds which is exciting to be a part of. The people I work with are all easy to get along with and we do what we can to help each other out. The owners treat everyone with respect and are very generous in giving back to the employees. 
The only negative I can think of is the push to get projects going without having proper drawings and design completed. This leads to frustration sometimes but hopefully this will improve as the company grows and implements better processes.


I was very excited when I first began my career with Ironclad, they knew how to 'sell' the company. I quickly realized that I had been misled. In speaking with other colleagues that have now moved on, I found that I was not the only one. Unfortunately no one seems to be on the same page when it comes to the vision in any department. People who are considered 'senior staff' have been there for sometimes less than a year and maximum 3 years and have had no formal training themselves. It is strongly a fear based culture where it is do what we say (as confusing as instructions might be) or leave. There is a strong sense of feeling under appreciated in all departments and a general lack of training through out the company. I hope they can get things on track so they can retain some of the really great people they are able to convince to work there.
