If you died and you were sent to purgatory to pay for your crimes on earth you would find yourself working at ICCS. This was my first job in the industry and I had no idea just how far from normal this place is. I assumed being exposed to violence, bodily fluids, and verbal abuse every day with little to no safety precautions was normal because my managers here told me it was! The reason for the high staff turnover is anyone with even a minute of industry experience knows better than to work here. They can only hire people fresh to the industry with no experience who either burn out from the toxic environment, or realize it's a toxic environment and run for the hills. I was fortunate to have a fantastic team of coworkers but that was no thanks to management and in fact they hated how close knit we were. I've never experienced a manager before who actively tries to cause friction between their staff but that's just one of the ways they keep things fresh over at ICCS! If you want to work for people who hate you, hate the populations they serve, and hate each other I can't recommend ICCS highly enough. If you want to work somewhere that respects you, go literally anywhere else. 

I've worked at ICCS in various roles for over 22 years. In that time I have seen the organization grow from a struggling grass roots organization to a large multi-program service leader in the social services sector.  There are many dedicated and skilled people working at all levels of the organization and the reason I have stayed so long is the consistently positive culture and challenging mission. In any organization where people are the primary asset, there are going to be interpersonal conflicts and disagreements, and ICCS is no exception. Despite this, I can honestly say that our managers and supervisors genuinely care for their staff and consistently strive to have healthy, functional, supportive teams. Similarly, our Board of Directors are informed and  appreciative of our frontline staff and show tremendous integrity in fulfilling their fiduciary responsibilities. I'm proud to continue to serve with this imperfect but impressive group of humans. 

ICCS does not care at all about its employees. They will screw you over every chance they get. The programs are great but they should not be awarded to this company. Management is conniving and manipulative. I went through MANY traumatic incidents including multiple clients assaulting staff members and nothing was done regarding this. They are now refusing to give staff members time off and saying if you take too many days off you will be disciplined. This includes for mental health reasons. Your mental health will definitely suffer by working for this company as they do not care about it at all. The work environment is horrible because of management. Everything about this workplace is bad, but if I could give management less than 1 star I would. DO NOT WORK HERE.

If you are hired by ICCS then they have confidence that you can perform the job as required.  As an employee you are expected to abide by company policy and follow procedures.  There is a 3 month probation period; there after, as  an employee you are treated fairly.  The management are professional and efficient.  If you need to discuss ANYTHING they are available,   There are many opportunities with working for ICCS.  They value their good employees.  Good place to for a career.approachable, and fair.Your position will be outlined in writing, and there is a collective agreement

Working at ICCS has been a meaningful experience. The most rewarding part of the job is supporting clients in their journey toward independence and stability. You get to build real connections and make a tangible difference in people’s lives. The team culture is generally supportive, and many coworkers are passionate and empathetic, which helps foster a positive working environment.



The only enjoyable part of the job was meeting and connecting with clients. There are a few employees that are there for the right reasons. Management and executives lack understanding, proper training, empathy towards clients and employees. Coworkers are two-faced, and team up against other coworkers. I couldn't believe the poor attitudes, and sense of superiority from the management team and executives.

Nothing it’s horrible, horrible management, staff.

Going to work , staff spends more time on drama then helping people

Toxic , unsupportive, clicky and brutal

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Watching people kill themselves with drugs and just giving them clean needles to do it

Loved my time with ICCS. The days could be stressful and you should always be prepared for the worst but overall it was a fun and inspiring place to work. There are many perks to the job but the main benefit is the amazing team and clients you get to spend your days with. Night shifts are difficult and there is problems with understaffing but I would recommend ICCS to anyone wanting to get into the mental health and addiction field.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Continued education where your looking for it.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Hot summer nights can make a short 8 hour shift exhausting. Office ventilation and temperature control can cause headaches amongst other workers.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Spiritual tenants, friendly and almost always ready for a smile

My Manager and team at ICCS is one of its greatest strengths. My management team is approachable, supportive, and genuinely cares about staff and clients alike. They prioritize open communication and transparency. I feel motivated every day to support clients and co-staff. Its ben a rewarding experience. the work can be stressful at times, but I love helping the clients!
