I was really excited to start working here. In my interview I asked lots of questions about management style and culture. Turns out what I was told couldn't be further from the truth. 
Despite all their talk about including everyone, my experience was the opposite. For example,  I reached out to HR with an accessibility request and the suggestion I was given was first approved of by management but then when nothing happened and I checked in, management said they had changed their minds without letting me know.... 
Very toxic and competitive culture, even during the training period (which was also horrendously disorganized). Coworkers expressed very low job satisfaction and high stress. Despite constant reassurance that the "team is always there for you" the reality was the exact opposite. Constant pressure to be faster and better (even when training). 
It took over a month to get this job and I turned down a different position for it, believing what I was told. Do not trust this company and their empty words/slogans.

Its hard to recap Island Savings because I have so many great things to say. I have worked here for two years and have enjoyed each day in a different way. They push up to do our best, learn daily and reach for the stars. We are set up for success each day through peer to peer mentoring, coaching and feedback. My coworkers love to recognize eachothers success which makes for a great work environment. There is not doubt that Island Savings will remind a top employer!

Overall, the environment was professional with moments of light-heartedness. There were lots of wonderful people that worked there. Upper management did let alot of people go, including myself, with no reason given. Many changes came from the top and weren't clearly explained with staff.

Amazing management and staff. Co-workers are nice, bosses are supportive and set clear expectations. Pay is a little bit low but if you could negotiate a deal than you will be satisfied.

Island Savings is not the same company since the merger with First West.  Staff are expected to reach the unreachable when it comes to goals set and then it makes you feel like a big failure if you don't reach those goals.

The only reason I left working for Island Savings (a division of First West Credit Unions), was because of relocation to another province. Excellent training, great group of people, and endless potential for growth within the company.

Very fast pace, continual change in processes and procedures with little time to get up to date.  Wonderful to assist people in their day to day banking and with life challenges that we could help with.

A very professional organization that is thoroughly involved in the communities they serve.Very thoughtful and supportive of their staff.

Overall, just an outstanding Financial Institution to have been associated with.

This was my first job and i couldn't have been luckier to have this experience with Island Savings! Amazing staff and a truly great feeling of accomplishment to have worked for this company.
