I don’t find the role particularly stressful. I enjoy the work environment and the day-to-day responsibilities.

Overall, my experience working at this company has been positive. The best part is the independence and the opportunity to gain valuable experience on the road. I don’t find the job stressful and actually enjoy the daily routine. The work environment is supportive, with good communication between drivers, dispatch, and management. It’s a professional workplace where you can build your skills and grow.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My typical day involves planning my route, driving safely to pick up and deliver loads, and coordinating with dispatch.
 Along the way, I handle paperwork and inspections, and by the end of the day I review everything for the next day. It’s a structured day that keeps me engaged and productive.

A typical day at work involved a lot of physical activity—loading/unloading, sorting, and organizing shipments. It was fast-paced but manageable with a good rhythm. I learned how to work efficiently under pressure and improved my teamwork and time-management skills. Management was generally approachable and clear about expectations, though communication could be hit or miss at times. The workplace culture was fairly positive, with coworkers often helping each other out. The hardest part of the job was the repetitive heavy lifting, especially during peak times. The most enjoyable part was the sense of accomplishment after a busy shift and the camaraderie among the team.

I have been with JD Smith for almost 2 years now and my experience with the company so far has been nothing but positive! I have been lucky enough to work closely with my manager/mentor which has given me the opportunity to learn and improve on a variety of skills in order to be able to do my job successfully. My coworkers are always friendly and ready to help, making for a positive work environment. JD Smith also offers a ton of growth opportunities to its employees which is great for anyone looking to climb the corporate ladder. Overall, JD Smith is a great place to work and I would highly recommend joining our team! 

Family-owned and run company, management seems to have an good appreciation of work/life balance.  In warehouse OT usually available if desired, training usually done by other operators, and good opportunity for advancement if you ask for it. I.ve been promoted twice with pay bumps to match, work gets more interesting/challenging each time.  I like most of the people I work with and my building is easily accessible by bus with a short walk. 

Depending on your role you may never see your manager.

Information on the tasks to perform are vague and once completed you are advised that it is missing details even though you asked questions before proceeding.

There is often an old group mentality as many workers have been there for 20-30+ years. They are stuck in their ways but have a lot of great knowledge.  However given the age there will be a lot of turn over in the future and this knowledge if not handed down will disappear. 

I would suggest trying to find another place unless you just need to work, put your head down and dont care, because management wont care about you,

It’s a multi cultural company. They treat you with respect and they give you proper training to growth your goal.

Working night shift is totally different from other shift.

It’s a logistics supply chain, third party distribution and transportation. Multi cultural environment.

Working night shift and oversized team member on day to day task.

There is nothing stressful, Until unless you know how to do your job properly

Satrting at Consistent time and have no particular finish time or maximum till you have time left in your logbook

I’ve had a great experience working with this company. The management team is amazing and fosters a very friendly and supportive atmosphere. They strongly encourage learning and professional growth, consistently implementing various incentives and initiatives to motivate employees. Compensation is fair, and the company offers valuable medical benefits along with uniform perks. Overall, it’s a fantastic place to work!

Everything is going well so far! I’m really enjoying working with the team and learning more every day. My colleagues are very supportive and encouraging.

The role is fast-paced and detail-oriented, particularly when balancing multiple priorities, but it is a positive challenge for me and helps me continuously improve.
