A typical day at work was being bombarded with customers, dealers, management to fix a barrage of other people's errors over the phone and by email.  

I learned to provide and keep proof of everything I do, and say.  Co workers were great for the most part.  The hardest part of my job was dealing with the managers expectations of their employees to handle the previously botched work by other staff members when others didn't come to work, quit, or were just plain fired.  

They layed off several offices of staff while I was employed and simply didn't bother to hire additional help to deal with the additional work volume.  

The only good thing about this job is that management was flexible when you needed to take time off to go for appointments.  

The job was frustrating because when I and other staff pointed out things the company could change to make the job easier they pretty much just ignored us.  

Also, mice running around in the office, not a nice work environment - filfthy, they couldn't provide appropriate office supplies like real desks.  They had us working on door slabs instead of desks.  Office was also freezing cold.  Think having to wear your winter coat to do your job kind of cold. 

The management also played favorited with staff members.  The hardest part of the job was dealing with customers that were angry that Jeldwen product didn't live up to their expectations and the way that Jeldwen handled their issues were not timely.

I worked for this company for 15 years. This was an awesome company to work for until we received a new plant manager who did not take the time to learn about his employees. We had a new plant manager after the previous plant manager retired. This plant supervisor was hired to build doors in the door shop. He wasn't even properly trained in this job when our plant supervisor  retired. He volunteered to do the supervisors job at the same rate of pay as he was getting for building doors. He proceeded to get his druggie friends hired, and made the manager believe he could take a lot of pressure off of him. As a result of his manipulations, he caused the removal of 5 employees who didn't see eye to eye with what he was doing. We were long term employees who would do whatever needed to be done to get the jobs done. Our only problem was we didn't agree with the way he favoured his friends over everyone else.  The plant manager believed him over the 5 of us. Shortly after moving the operation from Amherst to Moncton, the plant manager discovered the truth , but we had already been terminated.

Typical multinational company where you are not allowed to contribute due to long process and complicated obstacles by the terrible management and the unionized environment. You have to wake too early and start working too early then finish and drive back when the bad traffic has started. Then, the rest of the day does not permit you to do anything useful in your life. The work environment is too much political correct. Most colleagues are not qualified to do their duties and were only promoted for seniority and just being there at the right time. Salary and benefits are good enough. Otherwise all is terrible.  If a couple/more of workers don't like you they can make any story on you without any evidence and you don't get the chance to know who or what was the fake story that was made against you. Very antiquated supply-chain software. I.T department very unqualified and non-cooperative.

JELD-WEN is a fast-paced and high volume manufacturing facility; however, the infrastructure has not been maintained to keep up with the level of performance expectations. Internal departments are vastly disconnected and work with a "cover your own butt" mentality. 

Management not only seems to ignore suggestions for improvement but also seem to stifle them. Although they say they want to achieve continuous improvement their actions indicate they are happy with the status-quo. 

When things go wrong... The first course of action management seems to take is to figure out who it is they can blame, instead of getting to the source of the problems and really fixing them.

Start 7am. Review documentation with dock workers and assist to load or load truck by myself. Drive two runs a day normally over the lower mainland and Vancouver district area. Drive fork lift and load trucks by had as well. Do production work prepping and assembling of Exterior single pre-hung doors for delivery. Operating various saws and nailers and machinery. Crating of products.

You will either work in the warehouse/production line or the office.  The warehouse is not a fun place.  The pay is low and the expectation is high.  There is no incentive for working hard other than to not get fired.  The office is equally bad.  The pay is low, but you can make more money working insane overtime.  Good luck having a life outside of work.  The sales coordinators are the most unhappy people of all.  If you work there, be sure to be careful who you trust.  People are nice to your face, but stabbing you in the back behind closed doors or on the corporate whistle blower site.  Proceed with extreme caution!

Very much enjoyed working here for the short time I was employed by this company. Staff and customers were very friendly and a joy to work with. After just about a year of working there, I was let go "without cause". Still not sure why but seeing as I was the Receptionist I was under the impression that my position was secure. After, I had learned that this has happened in the past with others who were let go for no apparent reason. I was very disappointed and since then I have had trouble finding full-time employment again. I was forced to move back home with family and take my daughter out of daycare due to this unforeseen event.

1. The company has high safety standards.
2. The company is very conscious of employee's welfare.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
1. Short break for an 8 hour shift
2. Need for continous improvement and ease of workflow and processes

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is conducive and ehances work performance. Company culture is a well thought out and adaptable 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Daily safety meetings and review of the previous days work takes precedence. Then work placement and schedule is handed out to begin a new work day.

Jeld-Wen has an amazingly short staffed maintenance team with almost no parts for repairs on the machines. The company is very cheap and poorly run. You don't have any job security as they are firing people there left and right. They do have an a good group of on the floor trades people but the current manager is very unhinged and untrustworthy. If you're going to take a role in the maintenance department make sure you have a plan B job. Environment there isn't the worst and would be a nice place to work if they were willing to invest so money into the plant.
