JLL is a really good company to work for, at the surface, but beneath it all it is riddled with workplace politics and you are not rewarded for doing good work, you get more benefits if you are good at handling workplace politics.
It is the case in many places, but JLL it becomes apparent after working there for about 4 months. The managers have backdoor conversations about their employees with HR, so even when you have an issue, the managers have already talked about it behind your back, and usually leadership takes a biased position even before you get a chance to address your grievances.
For example, there is a policy that someone has to be in a certain position for a certain amount of time before moving up, but I've seen someone start off in an introductory position and end up in a senior position (3 levels up) in about a year. This means that if you are a people person you are more likely to move up, and management & HR will overwrite policy if they like you. On the other hand, if you are really good at your job, you have an amazing track record, you fill out your work orders way better than everyone else, but you had a disagreement with a coworker they liked, you will definitely not get ahead. I've seen many talented individuals come and go because of this workplace drama.

The greatest part of the job is that it's a really good company to work for. They have an amazing vision, they are a leading company in the industry, and a great place to get experience working for a giant corporate company. Ive worked for other corporate companies and this one is the icing on the cake. They have a very organised corporate structure, the chain of command is efficient, things get done properly, etc. They even have an awesome safety team. If you have an issue they take safety seriously, which is very responsible and accountable in my opinion. If you are a natural born leader, they have awesome programs to get involved in which falls outside of your normal day to day responsibilities, which allows you to attend meetings and possibly even travel. Since we are talking about travel, they will fly you out and put you through training. 

In conclusion, JLL is a really really good company to work for if you don't care for workplace politics; just expect to see others get ahead, and if someone talks behind your back there isn't much you can do about it aside from just working day to day and going home at the end of the day.




If you're considering working here, let me save you some time: run in the opposite direction. The management at this company is an absolute disaster. They took every management horror story and decided to live it out in real life.

First, communication is non-existent. Important decisions are made behind closed doors, and you find out about them via office gossip—or worse, the company-wide email sent after the fact. It's as if they believe "information is power" and hoard it like it's a rare artifact.

Then, there needs to be more direction. Every project feels like it's run by a bunch of blindfolded people playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Goals change weekly, and no one has a clue about the priorities. You can spend hours on a task only to have it tossed aside because someone in management had a sudden change of heart.

Feedback? Don't even get me started. When you do get a response, it could be more specific and helpful, like they're just checking a box to say they've done their job. Constructive criticism? Forget about it. It's either too harsh or too fluffy, leaving you confused and frustrated.

Lastly, let's talk about support. You'll find yourself sorely disappointed if you're looking for mentorship or guidance. It's every employee for themselves here, and good luck finding a manager who cares about your professional growth. They only seem to care about maintaining their own status quo.

In summary, working under this management is like being stuck in a bad sitcom—only it's not funny, and there's no laugh track to save you. Save your sanity and seek opportunities elsewhere!



Now, at first, I thought that maybe it was just the IFM team at my site but after reading the bulk of the other reviews on this website and confirming my suspicions with colleagues at other sites I can see that there is a global trend with JLL.
- Leadership style reminiscent of Stalinist USSR!
- Difficulty, if not utter failure, to adhere to regional regulatory standards. This will catch up with with them when someone is seriously injured or a government audit comes through.
-Company refuses to purchase proper equipment (possibly due to management's inexperience with SKILLED trades?).
-Overload middle management. No work-life balance; "on call" should not mean call them everyday on their time off.
-Salary employee remuneration and incentives fall far below market averages. That's without taking into consideration the nature of their "on call" policy and the average hours they work in a week. A normal week appears to be about 50 hours, seriously!
-Trades, you're looking to be making the same as what my son makes as a third year apprentice electrician. Don't bother complaining to the union either, they may as well not exist.
- Now, they have done a few good things, but putting it into perspective, one good deed does NOT outweigh the 50 failures it took to get there.

This was my second job with JLL.
I was brought into an account site that could not keep a Facility manager due to the stress and site difficulty.
I areed and accepted the job offer as an Assistant Facility Manager, to be addressed in 6 months upon site ratings review.
Site ratings were at a level 2- 3 when I started.
I put a team in place including re hiring the previous facility coordinator.
Site level scores were brought up to an average of 3 to 4.5 within the first year.
After being at the site for almost 2 years , I continued to ask about my promotion as enitially discussed at the interview.
relationship at the site was the best it had ever been.( clients words)
During my time at the site I had supported and interviewed candidates 2 times within 2 years for 2 other account sites for the position of Facilities Manager.
As well During my time on the account my team was able to save over $500.000.00 on cost savings/avoidance and energy savings.
received 11 VIP awards during this time.
June 26/ 2020 JLL decided that I was being released from duties.
The individual I interviewd guided/assisted for 6 months took over my team.

JLL account team management treated me unfairelly.
The only reason is they have the wrong individuals in certain positions


Out of the big 4 real estate firms, JLL probably has the best culture.  From my understanding, JLL is extremely stringent with its hiring process and will only accept the cream of the crop.  In addition, they will only hire people who will get along with the team, which is what sets JLL apart from the rest.

I've worked in a few commercial real estate firms and in my experience, most JLL employees are relatively professional and courteous.  I enjoyed my time there and rarely saw any conflict between the teams.

On the downside though, there is relatively high turnover due to the high-pressure work environment and long hours.  On the upside, once you have "JLL" listed on your LinkedIn, you will be contacted by recruiters on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis.  

Due to the turnover and long hiring process, many teams will go for weeks understaffed.  This leads to even more turnover, which perpetuates the issue.  I recommend JLL to consider hiring extra staff or even "floater" team members who are able to fill in whenever needed.

JLL has a great staff, but the management is third-rate. It's not unknown for them to be dishonest with employees, promising one thing and delivering another. Management is very disorganized and wants to pinch every penny to the detriment of staff.

Work loads are huge and there is no help on that front. I found out that my role had been covered by 2 people previously and you are expected to work as many hours as you need to in accomplishing senior management goals. The timeline for deliverables is too short, resulting in stressful deadlines and staff stretched to the limit. There is no work-life balance.

The colleagues at my level were a great group, but I suspect that many are there having nowhere else to go until the economy strengthens, at which time they'll leave the ship. 

Tools to help accomplish the tasks are inadequate. Computers are 5 years old and software programs are numerous. There's no intention of developing a comprehensive software suite.

The research analyst position was an internship I have completed throughout my education. My objective was to complete a Land-use map of the city of Toronto to help real estate agents locate where to invest. Meetings with the supervisor were held weekly at the office for updates. I have learnt many personal, and technical skills including punctuality, meeting deadlines, and patience. In addition, Adobe Illustrator, GIS were in extensive use in order to get the job done. I worked along a colleague where we divided tasks equally. The hardest part of the job was to work with heavy CAD files which slowed down the computer and made a simple task turn into a strenuous task. However, I enjoyed the learning process which consisted of learning new softwares, and the relation between Urban planning and real estate.

I came to work for JLL after working in an Amazon facility for several years. Everything that I hated about the 'peculiar' Amazon culture was present in this organization as well. Annoying work bending to the whims of middle-level Amazon management that doesn't understand any of the equipment in their warehouses.

JLL management is also completely metric and KPI focused, for more concerned with checklist completion than the actual health of the equipment. When equipment eventually breaks down you will have had no training to prepare you, get ready to RTFM and apply a temporary band-aid until the next breakdown.

If your looking for a career and you have ethics this is not for you.
Salary and benefits are ok and if you like working with people then it could be good if it wasn't for management.
Although all the talk from management is about quality of service to the client that's where it ends.
The reality is they don't want employee,s that are capable and have the abilty to use their own initiative to do the best they can for the client.
There is no mutual respect or trust ,often information is incorrect and feed back ignored. 
Typically you end up doing your best for the client in-spite of the shockingly poor management in certain Canadian programs.
The only good part was working with great clients and piers.
