A typical day was attending out pre-shift meetings (aka Tool Box), Stretching and filling out FLHA cards and post-shift meetings.

I learned about different tools and procedures of the trade. Also more about working on a construction site.

I met some interesting coworkers and supervisors and leaned many things about the trade and personal backgrounds..

Hard part was lifting was heavy power cables and working in the cold.

Most enjoyable part was getting hands on experience in the trade I have been waiting to start.

Whenever possible I like to be first and early enough to have read duty or safety sheet in case I am asked to Lead meeting. Depending on the project, location and how we stand with progress as to customer satisfaction, management will direct appropriate crews to continue as is or pick up the pace. I personally feel that we were all treated and payed well, along with Safety awards, Lunches, time off when needed and my personal reward from crews who although culturally alien worked as a team to make us  " The Team"

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some coworkers showed discrimination. HR Manager did not  investigate the blame without bias and wrongly punished to innocent.

Overall work culture is friendly

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
There is no typical day. Every day is enjoyable.

Typical Day starts with a drive out to the shuttle bus pickup/dropoff, then a 45 minute ride onto the worksite. Daily stretches and toolbox minutes to start the day, then over to the work area to complete a task-related safety card. Work between breaks on 10 hour days, then another 45 minute shuttle ride back to town. Including travel, the work days lasted 13-14 hours.

Paid weekly on time without delay.

Having to lay off workers on short notice.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Cronyism is the style of culture and working environment.

Start the day with "tool box" talk and stretching exercises.

I like the company and everybody cares each other.flexible schedule.
we have different projects going on in each of team. we do have project management system keep track each project's status, what's going on etc. its very good.

I am working on a brand new project, i am kind of independent in the team, i am hoping my team will grow soon though.

Wake up pack your lunch and head out for the bus pretty early. Anticipate a 11.5hours before you are back at camp. Co-workers and management were very friendly and knowledgeable. The hardest part of the job was being away from friends and family, and working out in minus 10 to 50 temperatures! End of the day was definitely worth it when you were back at home with your paycheques!

JVD is an employer of choice, I started with the company on the tools when I first came out west.  Since my start the company was quick to realize my assets and encouraged me to grow with the company.  The economy is the only reason I am without a job presently.

* In a daily basis I felt that there was no pressure of work because they provided us a work package which include installation details and tools & materials to do the job.
* I learned from  training on safety, tools and equipment.

I am a dedicated and safety conscious employee who has a proven success with production schedules and consider this an asset to myself. I also have proven success as a team player who enjoys working and having fun with other work mates.
