What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working at Joe Johnson Equipment in the Winnipeg, Manitoba branch was being plugged in to the overall corporate strategy.  I received ample support from leadership at all levels within the Winnipeg branch, head office and other branches across the country.   Working at this organization you get access to contribute to a publicly shared company's goals.  This is done by working in a ERP system that allows you to strengthen your task management and get experience in logistics, procure to pay cycles, inventory, vendor management and dealership portals to strengthen knowledge of their equipment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The work load during spring season can be heavy.  However, you do get a relief period after summer.  It is very rewarding to work with a team of professionals across the company during spring to bring value to Joe Johnson Equipment's customers.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
In my 7 years in Supply Chain, Joe Johnson Equipment stands out for its exceptional work environment and culture. Bi-weekly summer barbecues, provided lunches for hard pushes, and branch-wide seasonal events create a caring atmosphere. Annual awards recognize everyday efforts. Supportive HR, RRSP, benefits, and generous vacation time make it rewarding.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day consists of answering emails, being on the phone with internal and external customers.  This includes manual paper work and navigating within an ERP system or dealer portal to contribute or retrieve information.  You are always working with a team of supportive individuals to achieve a shared goal.

A typical day would be started very busy. City departments or business owners calling with equipment in need of repair. With the shop foreman priorities would be set. There are 6 technicians in the shop. I am responsible for quoting jobs, sourcing parts, supplying technicians with what is required to complete the repairs. I am in contact with customers regarding their unit. In the spring we had a night technician who was in charge of maintaining city units. 
I also submit payroll for the technicians using the times that they are working on shop jobs. I collect payments and make bank deposits. I submit all warranty claims to the warranty department.

Best thing about the job is the constant learning. I work with amazing staff members who constantly share their knowledge. Technicians are very confident in their positions and work as a team, with me included.
Management is new to their positions, it is a growing period for our office. The most frustrating thing is the inconsistencies. One day a procedure will be done one way, the next the directions will be different.

I was extremely happy at my previous employer, and has the opportunity to join joe Johnson through a hiring agency - which was a significant pay raise with a sign on bonus at the time. My manager, who’s ascended through the company now, was so flexible in arranging a time to meet as I am a single mother with a strict routine schedule. It was a calm atmosphere, and extremely friendly. After starting, there was a large learning curve, as this is a niche market - but constantly as team, we collaborate, to ensure deadlines are met. The team is so supportive, when I was going through a hard time personally, they brought in lunch and helped financially out of their own pockets to support my family. Joe Johnson makes it easy to come to work with the excellent coffee machine, paid training incentives, and excellent co workers. The hardest part is being unfamiliar with the equipment, but there is always a phone call to make because everyone wants to see you succeed. There’s a lot of meetings and safety talk, but it’s always in your best interest. Everyone is open to suggestions to improve the environment !  

I have recently joined Joe Johnson Equipment/ Westech Vac Systems as a Journeyman B Pressure Welder, and I am very impressed. The company offers 100% company paid benefits, which is a huge perk. I also appreciate the 3 personal paid days per year that come with the role, making work-life balance much easier to manage. The bonuses are great, with 1/4 bonuses giving me extra motivation to perform my best. $600 tool allowance, and $300 boot allowance per year. 

The work environment is positive and supportive. The team is welcoming, and the leadership is outstanding. The managers are approachable and seem to care about the success and well being of their employees. Working in the tank/vessel shop has been an positive experience so fare with such a collaborative atmosphere. I’m happy to be part of this team, and I look forward to growing with Joe Johnson Equipment/ Westech Vac Systems.

I haven't been at the organization long however can tell you they are very underestimated. The company doesn't just speak to their core values as an organization, they've put it into practice daily. And it's noticeable in how happy the team is to work at JJEI.

Within my time here, I have seen 3 internal postings for opportunities someone may want to grow into. These opportunities aren't limited to local employees to the specific region, they are open across the board, relocation is an option.

Health care benefits are 100% paid for by the company, at no additional cost to the employee.

Work/life balance makes sense to this company, and it's fair and understood. 


Great place to work, really a place that give a  chance to make mistakes and learn from it and growth and make great pay out of it.

Bad part of it, one of the last Canadian company that struggle hard to understand how to deal with Quebec customer reality. They still have the thinking that they know how business work because of their successes in Canada and US in English culture but have hard time to adjust themself to growth significantly in the Latine culture as French Canadian. They do not understand because most of the higher management and Human Resources are not fluantely bilangual so they can not understand customer or employe culture.


Worked in the shop for just about 3 years. Coworkers and lead hands where great and amazing people to work with. Unfortunately upper management and the shop manager don’t know what they are doing and can’t even bring work in. They will promise to train you but pit little effort and gaslight you when they make mistakes. 
One big problem they have is creating to many office jobs and catering to the office staff and giving them special treatment while ignoring staff in shop. Plus HR hiring incompetent family members that don’t know what they are doing.

Great opportunity to earn a great income, but the lack of support from upper management makes it hard to get things done. Priorities are out of place, of course KPI's take precedent as for most target-driven places of employment, however, upper management is an absolute joke when it comes down to support and provided adequate training. Unless you work at the Innisfil branch (head office) you're never good enough no matter what you do.

This was a great place to work not a high tech shop had more the mom and pop shop feel with a great bunch of people

A fast paced and dynamic work environment. High growth over the past few years has brought a lot of change but also career advancement opportunities and many internal promotions across most departments. 
Financial results are a big focus as a publicly traded company, but leadership is also equally as focused  on providing employees with a positive work experience. 
JJE checks all the boxes when it comes to my career goals, especially when compared to other employers I have previously  worked for.
