Joeys Only Seafood Restaurant

I worked here for about 3 weeks before I was fired for not being able to work a weekend I was not even scheduled to work on. i had told my manager this in advance for I would be out of town. He let me go through a text message along with 2 other staff members that same hour without reason. we were the only staff working here at this time so he basically fired all his workers. (he also copy and pasted the same message) Manager gives no training and expects you to know how to do everything once you first begin. If you do something wring he would yell at you or if there was something wrong in the kitchen ex:rotten cilantro he would tell you to lie to the customers by saying something along the lines of "the delivery driver called in sick today. Manager also does NOT give tips to workers. Manager wears street clothes to work for example; camo print cargos and a purple t-shirt and also smells bad. would not recommend working here. I hope this review persuades you to NOT APPLY HERE. 

A typical day at work had been for the most part busy, there was mostly always a task to be done be it cleaning  the kitchen area, preparing daily foods and cooking, I learned how to better myself as a team player as well as a better cook.The owners seemed to care a great deal about the restaurant, management was solid for the most part and my co workers were most of the time as enthusiastic as i was, i seemed to get along with everyone.The hardest part of working at joeys was the winter months we recently had, the weather had people not visiting as much on weekdays as we were used to, it was a struggle to be as productive, which isn't exactly hard but it is the only down side to the job i could think of. The most enjoyable part of working at joeys the food, learning a new method to cooking i hadn't known before all the time honing in my skills as a cook in future careers, maybe even a chef.

Owners/managers did not train you at all and would get mad at every little mistake even though they didn’t teach you. They’d be on you chastising you so much that you can’t even do your job. Seems like they hate new people. They also won’t allow you to get tips until they think you’re fully trained, even though they have no formal training. It’s very unprofessional, after hiring they did not tell me when or how I would get paid and didn’t get any information from me or give me my tax forms. 

Working at Joeys has been ups and downs - a lot of both really. I more often than not put Joeys before myself & my personal life. There was so much room for personal and professional growth there I think that's why I thrived. It's set me up for my future pretty darn good. Small enough to know everyone, big enough to see someone different everyday. It's literally like my family, I love the staff and the work I did there. I miss it everyday!

This was my first serving job, and it was a great place to learn. However most of my shifts were split, which resulted in two hour breaks most days. it was a fast paced environment, and having the ability to learn quickly is a must. tips were okay, usually $40-$60 in tips a day and up to $100 on Friday nights. management was sometimes accommodating the. requesting time off, but booking time off a month or two in advance wasn't guaranteed. You were able to pick up shifts which was nice.

A typical day at work always includes dealing with people. I learned to serve fish and chips to regular customers. The management were friendly and worked well with their employees. The hardest part of the job was during slow periods; however when hungry customers came by that made up for the slack. Overall it's a great place to start a career in the food industry.

Had a great time working there, it was fas t paced every day there was so much going on. I worked for the franchised restaurant running it for head office but once it was franchised out things went downhill very fast...the guy who bought it ran it into the ground and ran off all the staff...it ended up closing down when we all quit on him

I have worked for three years with Joey's as a Line Cook, as part of a hardworking team that supports a friendly and productive environment.

I have worked in all areas from kitchen to building maintenance, when needed I have assisted in other positions such as with events and large bookings, and servers when needed.

The people who work in this restaurant are very friendly and easy to talk to and will handle all issues with tact. I think the most enjoyable part of this job is meeting all the fun people who work there because they are just so sociable and down-to-earth.

I could go on about how amazing my manager is but I don't have all year to write this review. All locations are different and I'm blessed enough to work at the best location (crowfoot)...Good pay, great hours and a nice group of people to work with.
