The best part about working at John
Noble Home is the strong sense of community and teamwork. I truly enjoy the relationships I've built with the residents and my coworkers. Being able to make a real difference in someone's day whether it's through providing care, having a meaningful conversation, or simply being present-is what I find most rewarding. The support from the management and the opportunity to keep learning and growing also make it a great place to work.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
One of the most stressful parts of working at John Noble Home was managing emotional situations, especially when residents' conditions declined or when dealing with end-of-life care. It's never easy, especially when you form bonds with the residents and their families. However, I've learned to cope by staying compassionate, leaning on my team for support, and focusing on giving the best care possible during those difficult moments.

The work environment at John Noble
Home is supportive and team-oriented.
As a PSW, I work closely with nurses, other support staff, and management to provide quality care to residents. The culture is resident-centered, respectful, and focused on maintaining dignity and comfort for everyone we care for.
Communication is important, and staff are encouraged to collaborate and support one another, especially during busy or challenging times. It's a place where you really feel like you're making different.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day for me at John Noble Home starts with reviewing the care plans and preparing for the shift during the handover. I assist residents with their activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility. I also help with meal preparation and feeding when necessary, ensuring that each resident's preferences and dietary needs are respected.

Every department is filled with drama between co-workers. On my first day training, my trainer was bad mouthing multiple co-workers to myself. Don't expected even an ounce of compassion from management... I ended up in bad health and was missing work due to appointments and having bad health days. All of which my manager was aware of. I offered to get doctor's note for every day missed due to this, but was told it wasn't needed. I had a physically noticable medical episode at work, which required me to leave to seek medical treatment... A week later I was fired, I should have looked out for myself and got those doctor's notes anyway. They don't care for you as a person, you're just an easily replaceable number to them. Co-workers in my department would "finish" early and sit in the locker room and chat amongst each other for a half an hour, to an hour waiting until the end of their shift to punch out. There were multiple occasions I was scheduled for days I was not available, and they would still make me work them even after confirming I had myself down as not available on my availability calander. I gave 2 stars because the job paid well. 

Shift was from 2-10 pm. (Afternoon/Evenings). Shift started with nursing and support staff meeting to discuss any urgent care needed by residents on floor. (Changes in physical/mental/emotional states). Learned numerous skills pertaining to Personal Support Worker role. (As can be read in resume) Management was extremely helpful to both the staff needs and resident care. Co-workers on the resident floors where all very helpful not only to myself as a PSW trainee but also took a lot of time and care with the residents to see to their needs. 
Hardest part of the job was getting used to the set routine that is followed by both the nursing staff and support workers. However, this was overcome with ease once the routine became second-nature. Staff where all very helpful in answering any questions or concerns. The most enjoyable part of the job, was knowing that this PSW was making a valuable difference in the lives of the residents under my care. It was incredibly gratifying to see the smiles and to hear the works of "thanks". From both the staff and residents alike.

Management are bullies who like to threaten and intimidate employees. HR is a bully and extremely rude and uncaring not with just emoyees but residents as well. She likes to intimidate staff and makes you feel like you are garbage as a PSW. She roles her eyes unwilling to answer questions and the orientation oricess is completely unorganized. She has no education or qualifications for this position. Administrator has an ignore everything approach and. hides in her office avoiding everything in hopes it goes away. New Management staff are more concerned with their looks and obviously not hired on their qualifications and ability to be effective leaders. Privacy of employees personal information is shared with everyone and managers constantly running down staff. This place was once a great place to work but has certainly lowered its standards with the new management team.

It was a comfortable and safe working environment,it was frienly and a healthy working relationship between staffs and the residence

A typical day was one excitement and dedication to providing quality care to the residence and their family,putting their respect and dignity into consideration

Management and Supervisor's do not care about staff, they care about money. Employees made to feel unappreciated, re belittled and not heard. A lot of gossip amongst staff and obvious clicks. No room for advancement if you are not in the liked group. Seniority and scheduling not followed. Hours and advancement given to those of choosing and not based on employee record. They have laid people off than hire newly graduated students. If you return, you have lost all seniority and are given few shifts. My advice for working there, keep your head down and do Not trust management, nor coworkers.

I worked for John Noble Home as their Ward Clerk for almost 2 years on a part time basis.  The staff were very compassionate and friendly with thorough knowledge of nursing care given to all the facility's residents.

My duties were varied and I got to know the residents well and enjoy sharing conversations and transporting them to their dining hall for meals.  I liked my position there and really hated to leave when my husband and I had to move to Alberta for employment reasons.

This is the best LTC home in the city.  It can be hard work and like all LTC homes, it can be a challenging day at work.  There are a couple of negative staff who tend to be louder than the rest and try to bring everyone down.   If you don't get sucked into their culture of complaining you will see that there is a lot of good going on here.  Managers have an open door and will listen to suggestions if you have ideas that can improve the Home.
