Due to the pandemic, there are a lot of online meetings, but not more than you can handle. A culture of subtle competition and a style reminiscent of the 1970s could be found here. The company does not over-emphasize particular processes, but they do implement some of them. Indigenous culture is highly valued by the company. People there were very upbeat and knew their business very well - you won't run out of people to help you out! An operation in the style of a "clan" is very close-knit, but it is not closed off to newcomers. However, they could be more organized or formalized. The job wasn't what I envisioned, so it wasn't right for me. Not that it wasn't an excellent job, though!  There are many people who would do well at Johnston Group, but it wasn't for me. Experience helps a lot, the more experience you have, the easier it will be for you because it's fast paced and fairly collaborative.

There are a lot of perks at Johnston Group. I’ve worked for some really horrible companies so I recognize a company that values its employees and that is absolutely what Johnston Group does.   Some of the long term staff don’t realize how good they’ve had it there.

My work day was a 930 to 530 day. It was spent dealing with our clients questions or concerns regarding their insurance or claims with us. I learned to deal with a variety of situations and the most effective ways of dealing with conflict resolution.Management was well structured and encouraging. Hardest part of the job was at times the volume of calls waiting to be answered and not enough coworkers in our department to help. I enjoyed building relationships with our clients over time.

If you work in customer service, there alot more work and you cannot leave your desks as often as other departments. People are not as friendly, you have to always be serious and basically say nothing. The benefits are awesome, and draws for concert tickets sometimes. Training sucks, they do not know how to train people.

The company and owner are great.  Lots of employee benefits and great general atmosphere.  Personal accomplishments are left un appreciated.  They focus more on group accomplishments.  No clear definition or path of how to advance in the company. No goal setting for personal growth.

The best company I've ever worked for. The only reason I left is because I moved out of Winnipeg and they didn't have work from home. The had an on-site gym, gave out tickets to events that you could win monthly and they treated us all equally no matter the job title.

Coworkers were awesome.  Management had their favorites and if they didn't like you, you were screwed. Nice lunch room, great activities to get involved with.  I felt the CEO was super friendly and very much a people person.

The company is well run and greatly loved by all employees.  There is room to grow and advance in your job field. Many great perks and social aspects within the company that create an enjoyable atmosphere.

I only worked here for a short time company had great perks but they just don’t pay fairly! 

By far the best company I ever worked for. Pretty unique experience nowadays. The CEO knows everyone by name, is down to earth and genuinely cares about every single employee.
