K+S Potash Canada is a workplace that doesn't believe in punishment, in fact it seems like they give raises and promotions to employees with the worst performance records. K+S is the only company I have ever heard of that gives its employees 100 chances to keep your job, its like they don't believe in firing anybody regardless of the incident. 

K+S has a strong nepotism in the workplace, its definitely a "who you know, not what you know" type of workplace. You have to be best friends or family with the supervisors to succeed and if you're not liked, your life will be terrible as an employee. They either hire friends or family of supervisors and management or hire to help keep their top 100 employer status. They could hire experienced employees but for some reason K+S thinks hiring green employees makes more sense. For anybody who actually has experience in potash and is thinking of applying for K+S, you should know that they don't pay for experience. Everybody starts at the same level regardless of if you have 20 years experience or you're 45 years old and never worked a day in your life. 

Management is terrible, they are all filled with people who backstabbed and lied to get to that position and clearly way out of their league. They like to throw their iron fists around when in reality they don't know much about the area they manage. 

Simply doing a good job as an employee isn't enough to succeed or be recognized. The same people will get raises every single PSP regardless of their work ethic, just as long as they are friends with the supervisors and management and have a relationship with them outside of work. 

The site has a management that is very inexperienced and they hire other inexperienced people. They promote only those that can say the corporate buzz words without those people having technical or leadership skills. Work life balance is preached, but when the site is in a constant outage, the change their attitude very quickly. They do not advocate for individuals that work hard and majority of people have low morale which causes those strong high achievers to be in constant reliance and stress. There is no consistency between higher managers and middle management and those managers have little respect for those putting in the work. Pay is good in only select positions, I would suggest you negotiate very hard prior to taking the role or expect to be undervalued. 

The site has had issues with running the equipment which causes increased outages and workload to staff. If the position is at Bethune site working with departments in maintenance, there are alot of toxic people supported by their management. Generally, it's the people with the most seniority on site.
 There is only a few that make an effort and are naturally good people. Building these relationships and maintaining them is key if you accept a role within this company at site. Management really needs to enforce better work environment through the elimination of the toxic individuals that cause increased stress leave, employee turnover and productivity. The back stabbing is known and even occurs in meetings when management is present. 

Like my title says, the management is terrible.  Culture is reflected from the top down, and back-stabbing, lying, and covering your own reputation is all that matters.  They can't plan anything, and if I was a major shareholder I would be very concerned with that site becoming profitable one day.  Here's a tidbit, they currently aren't profitable.  They engage in nepotism and simple fact is that doing a good job isn't enough for you to be recognized.  They need managers that actually have management training and are looking out for the financial interests of the company and not treating it like their own little empire.

Above average industry standards for wage and time off compared to competitor mining companies. K+S took safety seriously and invests in capital projects to improve processes and help long term growth. Like any company, there was some management that wasn’t experienced but truely believe they were looking out for the best interest of the work force. Frontline supervision was knowledgeable and sincere. Lots of turn over from 2016 to present day, location is the biggest factor and my reason for leaving the company. 

K+S is one of Canada's top employers with excellent benefits, great management relations, proactive methodology with forward thinking like minded individuals working within a progressive culture.

The skills gained were not only limited to job specific tasks but the ability to interact with employees of all levels allowed for a renewed appreciation for a job well done.

Every day is a battle with management being afraid to make decisions, circumventing processes, and generally not supporting staff. K+S has some truly excellent team members. Unfortunately, they are fighting the tide with the subpar management. 
Quality, safety, and accountability only apply to external contractors. 
Promotions are granted via nepotism or mastery of chat gpt, not on compitance or performance. 

Great company to work for, lots of recognition for a job well done and assistance provided when ever needed or requested. A true sense of team and authentic friendships. 
Excellent management and consistent training programs for all aspects of life. A general feeling of respect and professionalism is a constant and overall just a great place to show up every day.

The hours were long and going to the work site in Saskatchewan in the winter was brutal....cold.
Travel was frequent from the office to the work site. 
A real variety of people worked there and that was interesting
