My last three months with KBR Wabi were very interesting to say the least.  The AMR Project I was on was poorly run with inexperienced supervision and emotional upper management.  In my 3 months on this project I seen multiple firings and dismissals happening for no good reason.  I seen a man fired in the toolcrib for no valid reason so a position could be opened up for the general managers son.  Family members were being promoted with no previous supervision experience.  People were given titles and roles just for a pay increase and there was no sense of direction at all.  I would not recommend working for this particular division of KBR to anyone.  The pay was ok and the benefits, but that was CLAC handling that aspect.  On the bright side the workers on the ground were fantastic and I met some great people.    

The camp setting was good great food /people and entertainment.Working with the mining as well as the Surface construction was a great experience. great managers and love working and training the Northerners who were like sponges as they were being taught new ways and ideas.

I then proceed to start my own company(JH Safety Services ltd) and work for Director of Safety at the same site Cigar Lake/ Rabbit Lake.I use to travel a few days a week between sites. The Safety Director was Wayne Anderson from the Saskatoon office . He was also a great Mentor / advisor.Working as Safety Manager/ Coordinator and field advisor.The Cigar lake Project was over 2 billion dollars and we achieved the project without any major Safety Injuries,with sometimes 10-12 different contractors.
I have always been on the Construction Management Team for the past 6 years.

The main priority is safety on every job. No craftsman or manger will last very long in this organization if he or she does not put safety first. Every project has rewards but none so greater than no one getting seriously injured. Quality and production are also highly regarded. Doing the job correctly the first time reduces exposure that could be hazardous in certain situations. Every day on a construction site has changing conditions and challenges to be met. My particular job was working closely with the project engineer writing and resolving RFI's per the engineer's recommendation. Close coordination with the area managers and discipline superintendents in regards to these issues was critical  in order to meet schedule requirements. At any rate every challenge is great and stressful at times. You got to love it!

A typical day at work,was interesting each and every day.of As a laborer it was never the same,which I found to be really good.I learned alot more about ground work and the proper construction,and the labor involved in constructing Gabion Baskets..Management was always helpful with personal matters and they kept us informed of tasks that had to be completed in the priority of importance...I worked with a diverse crew of laborers,and it was very interesting getting to know about different cultures,we all worked well together...The hardest part of the Job was the weather at times,and the travel to and from the job site...The most enjoyable part of the job was getting to meet alot of new and interesting people,as well as the rewards and the salary that we earned....

Every morning we started off with stretches which got us warmed up for our day.Then our foreman would brief us on the tasks for the day and send us in partners to conduct tasks. Throughout the day he would check on us and discuss our progress and make sure we were on the right track. My coworkers were very helpful on my first day and taught me how to do my job properly and efficiently. I'd say the hardest part of the job lifting the heavier materials but I always had the help of my coworkers if something was ever to heavy. The funnest part of the job for me was working in the scaffold yard and learning all the different pieces.

I worked in procurement for three years, when the oil and gas was extremely busy. I initially worked directly under the director of procurement , after which a purchasing manager was hired and I worked under this person for the balance of the time I was with their firm.

Office Manager is VERY cranky at all times...only sees her side of things and does not take suggestions to im prove office...making office moral very low..
Received a 2% raise after working hard for 2 years...office manager is very belittling and doesn't care about anyone's feelings but her own.
Hr is not for employees and not very professional...if you talk to them about a private problem the HR manager will spread it around the office - another con....really small office so you know who started what fight...wouldn't recommend working here.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing, no room for advancement and covid vaccine is required to work for KBR. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The constant barrage of ridiculous emails and requests from the host company managers, supervisors, and shop floor personnel.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressed out, hurried, ignored, taken for granted, overworked and underpaid.

it was my pleasure to work with KBR everyday it was interesting to do the job in safe mode
i have learned a lot from this company how to manage the job how to lead and team work
Management was really good they was treating us equally with no doubt
the Co workers they was good, always we was helping each other to do the job safe and in time
it wasn't really hard part of the job we was following the orders from the management
the most enjoyable part of the job was end of the week to sign ours working hours

Yes you may have the most amazing pay cheque ever but the atmosphere and the organization in this work field is just horrible. The camp is nice but the people leading the project are not qualified to make things move and go on. In a 10 hour day you work 5 hours. Because of the contractor (syncrude) that is so much conserned about security, you cant do your job normaly. Be careful everything you do is watched...even if it doesnt seem like it. Be careful people seem nice but they will be the first to make you looze your job...
