KEIPER

I worked at Keiper, in London Ontario from August 2005 to February 2006. The entire time, I worked six day weeks and was kept on as a 'temp' the entire time.

They dangled a carrot in front of me the entire time that I worked there, leaving me totally in the dark whether or not I was going to get hired or not.  The issue I had with them wasn't that they didn't hire me, but because they just had no intention to do so without telling me.  Had they just said that I wasn't what they were looking for but they were going to keep me on until sometime in the new year, I would have been fine with that.

My foreman, had his favorites, and despite being the only guy out of a team of about 40 that was never late once, or missed a single day, that still wasn't enough.

Lots of people would just refuse to come in on mandatory overtime on weekends but they were still hired on full time and never even got so much as a written or verbal warning. 

They were constantly behind on production because of them always having to train newbies. Why was this? Because of the  way they treated people and not hiring the hard working temp guys like myself.

The London plant is no longer in operation and they have nobody to blame but themselves for it taking so badly. However, it's not like management cared because they all got their bloated severance packages while the  hard working production folks got screwed.

A typical day can be described as: "The routine is here again; so, doing your job, you will do it perfectly some day" 

I learned to follow instructions and the benefit of a "Job description"

Management was result-oriented and concerned about the individual performance

My coworkers were generally focused in meeting the Team Leader expectations

The hardest part of the job was working three shifts

The most enjoyable part of the job was receiving  complete training sessions. They were of high quality

At Keiper I had the privilege of working with a high-functioning and highly engaged management team.

Due primarily to the efforts of the Plant Manager, with the extremely capable assistance of the various other Department managers, Keiper Limited developed into a great culture and a fine place to work for everyone.

It was unfortunate that the location closed in 2011. The subsequent search for comparable employment is a great challenge.

Building seat frames for Mercades and Chrysler on semi automated work stations, loading robotic welder and fixing weld with mig welder.
I learned a great deal of skills such as mig welding, working with automation. I worked with a great crew and I am still friends with most of them. The hardest part of the job was mid nights but not that big of a deal. The most enjoyable part was being challenged with building deadlines.

we used to have free lunches if we had good production days  and overtimes. Some times extra breaks time during overtime.
We had opportunity to bank our hours from the overtimes and used them when we need them  for time off or get paid. There was a room and a bed for someone who may not feel well to rest.

typical day of work very busy. I learned hoe to run robotic devices. my co workers were awesome, management always family helpful. hardest part of this job trying to get the proper day production done.

When this place was open it produced automotive parts.
Attention to detail required.
Normal to fast paced work environment.
Towards the end of my employment there was only 3 shift days,evenings and night always rotating.
Management was good never any problems.

the factory was new when I started so we helped install equipment and learned how to run it as a production member to working my way up to a team leader to running a crew of 7-20 and fixing machines.

Everyone had a place in the company but the owners and managers knew it's our company as much as theirs. They cared about us and helped us to grow, strive to learn new skill sets and appreciated us and we could see that every day.
