A company that is rapidly expanding, there is room to make good money on commission. However, the commission structure seems to change every fiscal year, making long-term planning difficult. Company is unwilling to invest in its support staff and experiences very high turnover, and is a toxic environment for work-life balance. Until they had around 150 people in the office, there was actually nowhere in the office to have a lunch break, which is shocking. Renovations went much longer than planned and for half a year the office looked like a construction zone, which is not great for health and safety.

Staff are young and fun, highly motivated people that are great to work with and learn from. Downtown location is ideal for commuting in: easy to get to by TTC and Go transit, and on-site bike parking is good for being active.

Benefits package and RRSP matching are excellent. Benefits are quite comprehensive and include spouse / dependent children. Work from home options available for senior staff is good for work-life balance, but it is not evenly available for all departments.

Lengthy hiring process that seems to be getting more complex, but company is quick to fire.

Does not seem to be bringing in enough leads to feed a rapidly expanding sales force. Culture of favouritism is challenging - makes it harder for new staff to hit sales targets, and more advantageous leads are cherry picked.

Unreasonable expectations on a small support staff given the high number of sales staff they are expected to assist, from customer care team to air team to rate entry and a small product department. Unable to keep up with the needs of a large sales force.

It's a great place to work if you are passionate about travel. Basic training does not prepare you enough to be an expert. Though there are people there to help, be prepared to learn on your own to get up to snuff. It's a swim or sink situation. Feedback on performance is vague if you are lucky to get any at all. Management can be supportive when they want to be especially when it's in their best interest. The base salary is competitive with the industry but may not be worth it for the toll it takes on work life balance. 
There is definitely recognition for great work done and individual contributions. Though it is difficult to listen to, acknowledge and address individual concerns that affect the company as a whole, management does not implement effective ways to attend or resolve the minuscule things that gravely affect the company stakeholders, employees, partners, clients. Here and now is just as important as the future. Hopefullly the company will realize that Revenue drives the business but loyalty and paying close attention to detail is just as important for a business to thrive.
Pros and cons are 50/50. It can be a great company depending on how much effort you want to put into it. Just like they say life us what you make it...your experience at Kensington Tours is entirely up to you! Sink or Swim?

What is the best part of working at the company?
working from home and the possibility to join a FAM Trip. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Receiving only a few leads (about 10 per month) while being required to sell $100K each month is challenging. Some departments receive significantly more leads, yet everyone is expected to meet the same sales target. The current commission system is unfair for  some teams, but management doesn't seem to care. Every time a target isn't met, the company takes away your commission, creating a win-win situation for them. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Overall, it's a decent work environment. While you may occasionally encounter a bad manager, the leadership team is OK

I have years of experience selling travel yet after two interviews in two years I was not moved forward in the hiring process. Bottom line....they are looking for sales people. Plain and simple.  I have a friend who was just hired with zero travel experience but plenty of high pressure sales experience. 
So if you just want a sale job that requires you to hit targets to get bonuses, then do apply. If you're a travel agent that loves to book travel and appreciates earning commission on every sale, then this may not be a good fit. I hope this was helpful.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Following up with poor quality leads that often don’t know how we go their information. Designing itineraries and quotes for wildly inflated tours. Pressure to sell even during extreme downturns or war

I am a part of the Product Development Team wherein I help the team with uploading appropriate photographs to the itineraries as well as the packages.

Building new hotels into the database (also known as TMT – Trip Management Tool) which we receive from DMC’s from all around the world according to the departments

Updating hotel rates and room types received from the vendor

Building a cruise and enter the rates into the TMT.

I had a great experience in this company, I worked for 6 marvelous years, although I was laid off, I never regret working there or have bad feeling, most of the people are really exceptional, I grew in my career, learned, they have a top notch software that help you to sale and be on top of things, this was the real thing for me. 

The job comes with a lot of stress and during peak season there is absolutely no work life balance. The sales team brings in all the revenue yet they are treated as of easily replaceable. The base is extremely low and during the pandemic most faced hardships with no commission coming in. There is no transparency between senior management and the sales team. Lots of unprofessional decisions and work culture can get very toxic.

A company where everyone must work hard but don't worry they play hard too. Lots of room for growth as they are rapidly growing. With that, of course, comes growing pains but skillful at pivoting and finding new ways Kensington Tours rewards hard work.

The workplace culture here is totally whack. Job security is a major concern. Massive layoffs happening every couple months. They hire people and spit them out before their probation period is done with. The platform is CONSTANTLY changing. It isn't a reliable company to work for.
