Typical Day at Work:
- Performed statistical analysis of the daily operations of the company, including analyzing large volumes of data and preparing reports to be viewed by management.
- Handled the daily cash flows and cash management, balanced days end statements, and inputted journal entries.
- Inputted and posted all incoming invoices and prepared payments to all vendors.
- Was a customer service representative managing and directing all phone calls coming into the clubhouse, handling customer inquiries, managing customer complaints and rectifying any problems the customers incurred.

What I Learned:
- I learned how to apply some of the basic knowledge obtained in university to an everyday work environment, especially in my role as an Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk.
- I was able to improve my Customer Service Skills through my position as a Sales Associate.

Management/Co-Workers:
- Reported daily and was an assistant to the Director of Golf, Director of Administration and Director of Accounting and Human Resources.

Working at Knollwood, you got free golf, and discounts on food/merchandise. Some of the customers/members were great, others were not. The Director of Golf tended to forget or mess up a lot which made the job in the pro shop very difficult. You would have numerous people(customers, members, Ladies League Members) take it out on you and the manager would hide from them, leaving you to take the abuse. Many of the members would get upset because their tee times were cancelled without anyone's knowledge or there was a tournament that was forgotten and they had to squeeze it into the tee sheet and therefore delete many tee times. You would rarely get support from the Director of Golf and it always seemed like they didn't like you, whenever you talked to them. Finding out that the Director of Golf is now the General Manager at Knollwood sounds like a joke but sadly it isn't. The owner is also very difficult to deal with too, always made you feel like you're garbage. The only thing tolerable at Knollwood were most staff, some customers/members and some of the former management which have all moved on other than the now GM. There's many golf courses in the area to work at, Knollwood should be your last resort.

Knollwood Golf Club was full of drama. Days were typically very long and you wouldn't be notified in advance when you would have to work longer days, you would only find out the day of... some Managers were great to work with like the old GM but others were very unorganized and the management staff was never on the same page. Things are always getting messed up, tournaments not booked properly or tee times getting canceled without letting the golfers know and the Director of golf would leave the staff to deal with it rather than owning up to their own mistakes or offering to come help. Staff felt very confused, unheard and employee turnover is terrible there because of this. I would not recommend taking a job here. The only good thing was the other employee's and the free golf, even though the course was always in rough shape.

Your hours will be cut if the day is slow, and you'll be expected to stay past your hours if it's busy. Staff in BOH were sent home if there were "too many" people on a shift, and too many often meant "exceeded three people", even during weddings and events where BOH was swamped. Management was clique-y, the owner of the golf club has a chip on his shoulder and every visit he made to the course dropped morale, but the rest of the staff made working there bearable.

One of my favorites jobs I've had. Wonderful experience, great staff leaders and fun work. Very fast paced but all-over very rewarding. I'd be there if I hadn't moved out of the city 

Management is young, and inexperienced. The owner allows his kids to ride their bikes through wedding set ups and all over the course. They never hire enough staff and you work long hours without a break at times. Much better courses to work at in the same area.

Upper management is just terrible. They hired a second in command without telling anyone! Then had this person try to tell employees what to do, which did not fo over well. GM is almost impossible to get ahold of and will ghost you. Communication between management is almost zero. 

Not somewhere where passion flourishes. Prepare to be asked to give more than you are willing to, even if you make it clear that you have work/life obligations. The industry is demanding, sure, but it’s kicked up a notch here, with lower than normal labour for the size and capacity for the venue.
