This company faces significant internal challenges that impact both employee morale and overall performance. One of the most noticeable issues is the consistently high turnover rate, which suggests deeper systemic problems. Management appears disorganized and, at times, lacking transparency, leading to a breakdown in trust between leadership and staff. Employees are often placed in difficult situations where communication feels inconsistent or even misleading.
There is also a concerning pattern of management fostering division rather than collaboration, with employees feeling pitted against one another instead of supported as a team. This creates a tense and unproductive work environment.
Additionally, the company has made little meaningful progress in improving its processes or stabilizing day-to-day operations. Procedures are either unclear or ineffective, leaving staff without proper guidance. Training is minimal or insufficient, resulting in employees being unprepared for their roles. Job titles frequently do not align with actual responsibilities or skill levels, further contributing to confusion and dissatisfaction.
Overall, the organization would benefit from stronger leadership, clearer communication, and a genuine commitment to employee development and operational improvement.

I worked as a worked here a few years back and the social  workers made it adamant that I reveal my gender identity to the children I was working with. I said I wasn’t ready and didn’t feel they were old enough … they constantly berated me and made it seem like my job was on the line if I did. Also they reeled us in with promises of support and backing when in fact at the end the term they left us with no job security and just an out of luck situation. Working for them I still am traumatized and have nightmares and if I can turn back time I would have never chosen to work there to begin with. They push an agenda on you their agenda whether you disagree it’s their way or the highway! Aside from the joy it was with the children with many many many ups and downs I feel like a threw away a decade of my life for this company. 

i am a foster parent and have enjoyes learning new skill needed to work with high needs children, i did receive very good mangement skills since working at home with being a foster parent i learn how to use time mangement , budgeting, along with a number of other skills, the hardest part of the job was having the children leave your home once their families are ready to have them back, and most enjoyable part of my job is helping the youth reach goals while they are with me , that maybe in attending school everyday, doing their homework or just learning about their culture and families ways, that is the most rewarding .

A typical day at work:
- Supervised 2-10 female at-risk youth in care 
- Documented incidents and updated daily reports 
- Escorted youth to school, appointments and recreational events 
- Mentored and educated youth in life skills including cooking and cleaning

What I learned:

Management:
- Management was very helpful and taught everything that needed to be learned easily. If there were any questions they were more than happy to answer!

The hardest part of the job:
- It was far from home

The most enjoyable part of the job:
- Knowing that I was making a difference in the girls lives!

The kids and the few decent staff make it worth it. staff are clicky and like to gossip more then paying attention to the kids and their needs. sometimes I would spend shifts basically working alone despite other staff being there because they wont leave the office or look up from their phones. supervisors were openly transphobic in homes with trans kids and nothing but a hour seminar on pronouns and putting inclusion stickers were done. under paid and contract has not been renewed for years with little to no hope of renewal with how slow things are going. not to mention the lameexcuses that follow with it. if you need a job apply, but come in with the attitude of being present with the kids and be careful with the friends you make. 

Worst experience of my life. I feel sorry for those poor kids. There are a handful of staff left that actually know what they are doing. Anyone with any actual education or common sense has left for greener pastures. The SAIL program is a cash cow otherwise that company would have gone under a long time ago. 

The Knowles Centre... kicking kids while their down since whenever group care started. It’s really too bad. If they replaced the group care director and a majority of the staff there may actually be a chance for these kids.

Knowles Centre is a place where you  gain great experience working with youth when you are just entering the field, it is not an organization where you can move up. Management does not value its front line employees, when you express concerns regarding work conditions, management says good luck finding something better. Knowles Centre should gain a better perspective on what we are all here for and that is to make a  positive difference in the lives of these children and youth. 

Fun work environment. Makes one at times feel like they are truly making a positive difference in the world, especially when breakthroughs with children happen. Staff liked to gossip a terrible amount and were often two faced. One staff who you would assume has your back, is in reality smearing your name to other co-workers when you're not around.For a multitude of reasons, Knowles are awful at training new employees.

Generally,  it has  being great working at the independent living program at Knowles center . Clients and co-workers are respectful.  Work and life is balanced. Paying attention is required, interacting with clients and being able to listen and care about them is also part of the job. Its being great.

Depending on what house and supervisor you work for it’s either a great place or a horrible place to work. The kids are great but can be challenging.  Staff is questionable at times and gossip. It’s short staffed a lot so you end up working alone. Some management is supportive but not all. One of the better paid healing homes if you can get full time and is unionized but the benefits are expensive and not great.
