KOA CAMPGROUND

This was just a temporary position that didn't turn out well. The regular staff was very friendly and decent to work with but I very quickly found that things weren't being run very smoothly. I understood the KOA was under new management and things can have its hiccups however after finding out there employee turnover rate was through the roof I quickly realized why. Management allthough very seasoned with seasonal type campgrounds was not accustomed in running a KOA type park with constant guest turnover and all the extra daily ongoings of this type of campground and couldn't keep things together. This was quickly realized when employees were getting hollered at by management for problems that management caused. It the short few weeks I was there at least 3-4 employees quit. This was definitely not the place for me as well as the new management as they even told me they will be moving on from this campground following this season as it was not what they were used to. 

At the start of most days began with a property security check. A check list was created for all staff to follow. We quickly learned the operation of a commercial water and septic system. As a manager we were comfortable following the master plan as designed. All co works had a great understanding of their duties. The hardest part of this project was leaving all the great people we had met each season. The most enjoyable part of this job was paid day!

The company is a great company to work for. Although, it is a very demanding job and your busiest times are on long weekends and holidays (when other familys are going on holidays). There is alot of customer service experience and you can't get around doing some dirty work (meaning; garbage, and cleaning the store and washrooms)

KOA campground was a work experience I will never forget, the people and the staff are friendly and easy to talk to. If you plan on working for KOA Cornwall I suggest knowing more then one language as it will come in handy and save some embarrassment for both you and the guest.

I often found employees were completely out of the loop about what they were supposed to do or say in certain situations because they were never told. However the owners just thought everything they knew was common knowledge. There needed to be way more communication. 

It’s a fun environment in the summer with the campers though. They are all very friendly!

Typical day started as I did shift work early am to evening shifts, This being said i was able to learn how to open and close the store on my own. Dealing with different scenarios with campers on a daily basis. I am confident in myself to learn daily and use what i learned efficiently.

When you are first hired you do not feel welcome. Uncomfortable feeling from the hired staff. Management is not overly professional and pushes blame on the staff if an issue arises. 

Good experience working with the families at the campground.

I would advise against working at the Sussex KOA. The business is disorganized and drama filled. Additionally, you will be expected to perform well beyond your job description to do manual labor. The high turnover rate is that way for a reason.

Many tasks to complete to fill the day.
Very busy with plenty to do, nothing overwhelming,  but no bordem.  Great team environment good management and overall a fun place to work!!

a typical day at work would be good for me because ill be interacting with others and learning mew things like cooking for example I would know more about how to cook.
