The company as of late is set up like most other "worker mills". Bring in 100 new employees each year, give them lackluster training, fire most of them before they make union. And when they can't fire you, they will bully and belittle you into quitting. Keep in mind, most of the supervisors are very knowledgeable, treat the workers like the adults they are, and have a friendly and professional attitude. This of course costs them substantial amounts of money, but bleeding significant amounts of money is nothing new at this company, especially in corporate. The turnover at this company is very high. I would estimate 80% new hires are gone before they make it a year.

However, there are some supervisors in the factory who go out of their way to make the floor workers miserable. They take out their problems out on the workers, make unsubstantiated claims of incompetence or laziness against workers, will yell, use profanity, bully and belittle workers, constantly threaten punishment or firing over false claims or trivialities. They treat workers like they have no where else to go, they treat you like you are there against your will. Like you can't simply quit, like you have no marketable skills. Like their word is the law of the land, and should not ever be questioned.

You will have non future here. To paraphrase the CEO: "Sure you have opportunities to move up. Take some night classes, build up your skills, and we may consider you for a better position". In other words, pay to play. There are no new investments planned, no new products planned to be built at this institution. The company had been selling off many assets: 3 or 4 branches in North America, due to inability to give an adequate ROI to the Californian owners. The best pay you can expect outside of ot is 17.20 an hour (on midnights as a set up operator). You cannot move beyond that at this company 

KSR lets themselves get strung around by there customers, to the point it costs KSR more money than the customer is willing to pay. Implementation of nonsensical policies ie the so called "clean room" electronics lab, where dirty components and filthy water damaged packing totes are used. The lines and machinery have long fallen into disrepair. Belts are badly frayed, tooling eventually falls out of spec from contact wear but never replaced, operating a line is like testing a highschool student's first gui program only the bugs and flaws are never addressed. Whether or not it is the opinion of the attending supervisor, corporate likes to blame worker incompetence for problems/production issues on the lines: machinery breakdowns, training of workers, defective components used on the line.

I do not regret working here. I did enjoy working with many of the supervisors, and many of the floor workers. I took this job for what it was: easy money to tide me over until I found something better. It is a shame the poor behaviour of a few makes what is otherwise an easy casual job, so miserable. 


Things have changed since Mc Navistar Management regime has taken over the place and put friends in high places.  With an upper management mix, with some from the same university and same from the closed Navistar plant,  it makes for an interesting situation when they all have each other's back and lower management can only bend over.

Camera's are going up wherever HR and Production point to where they should go as I have witnessed.  They say it's for safety but I have never seen Health & safety or our Union rep suggest where to put them.   They are mainly for work performance and have little to do with safety or theft.

As an operator, I seem to be signing a training for twice a week or a quality alert.  Just yesterday I signed off that I was "Trained for training".  I feel like a dog.  I feel like a child when I need the supervisor to get me gloves.  I feel like I'm working at Fort Knox handling gold or money under the watchful eye of many new cameras.  I feel like I'm in the army when the supervisor stands by the hand scanner and checks your name off, or when the supervisor knocks on your car window during a break to give you your pay stub.  I felt like I was an infant in a nursery when the production office put mirrored tint on its windows.

Ontario's caregiver's leave is commonly applied for amongst co-workers.  Management likes to pry deeper into you health beyond doctors notes as they aren't aways good enough.  They have been known to try and influence Doctors by inviting them to the plant. 

More than half of the supervisors tend to distract, stare at, stock, engage in and more or less cause production reduce.  Veteran employees accused of slowing down things or sabotage are very insulting. 

Breaks became very strict and everyone on the line knows when you go #2 in the washroom. 

I've been through 3 posted positions and gave the all up due to mandatory overtime on all 3 shifts.

The hardest part of the job is dealing with middleman supervisors, HR that thinks they know how to "motivate" (not more money or bonuses).  Other hard parts are watching supervisors at their desks on state-of-the-art ego chairs while production operators get nothing for unadjustable stations.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Good in between jobs if you can’t find any other work.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No job security, extremely negative work culture, very poor management communication, most preventable problems are caused from people not caring or doing the bare minimum.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
This is the most negative and toxic workplace I have ever been. It is very dirty compared to other facilities due to lack of cleaning. Some people are friendly but there are too many issues that do not get addressed or pushed onto the next shift. The company does not meet or follow the corporate standards that they themselves set.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Ether very extremely busy or not much work to do, there is no in between. I had to constantly find work for myself because the job was not set up properly. Very frustrating when most of my job is in a grey area of union work or non union work which is not clearly defined.

The compmaby is solit to two ,1 is union workers and managements, i was part of managements . The union workers which includs elecrician, millawrites, operstors , qa  for example are all great) union gusto working there were amazing very friendly and nice people but Very poor management, few managment individuals corrupt, been there for over 12 years ago and unfortunately they running the show very poorly and very badly. No life outside work, lots of overtime, lots of mandated overtime work on weekends for no pay ( weak salary less than 55k a year) and more than 50 hours worked a week ( forced). Lots of inconsistency in every single department in the plant. Engineers they got dont know much of their job due to their low pay and poor selection of hires. Don't work there until you hear these specific 3 people are not running the show anymore because the ship is sinking very bad and almost there to drown if they kept running it. 

A typical day at work involves multitasking, problem-solving, and teamwork. I’ve learned time management, adaptability, and technical skills. Management is generally supportive, though communication could be improved. The workplace culture encourages collaboration and learning, with colleagues often willing to help each other. The hardest part of the job is handling unexpected issues under pressure, especially when deadlines are tight or resources are limited. However, the most enjoyable part is the sense of accomplishment after overcoming challenges and seeing projects successfully completed, especially when team efforts pay off.

I worked in a hot and smelly work setting during my employment, I was able to gain a great deal of experience working with all types of different press & mold machines as well as stay fit and motivated.

I enjoyed this job because I had the shift the best met my needs as far as flexibility and personal life went. 

My co-workers were mostly all great people to work with, never had issues and I learned a lot about helping co-workers when it's needed & enjoy working as a team player.

Management was great, supervisors treated all employee;s fair and with respect and dealt with all requests and issues quickly and properly.

The worst part was having to leave, it was a temporary position and the job site was located in a town away from my own and at the time I lost my only source of transportation and after many attempts to find another way to and from work I was unable too and therefore was forced to quit.

KSR is not what it seems, job only pays $14.65/hr  ($465.00/week) witch is not worth anything if you got a-lot of bills to pay.

Work is easy but when working in summer it gets to tense to try to get quote. Heat breaks are a joke for when its around 35*c-39*c you only get 5 minute heat breaks witch is not even time to actually let your body cool off and is not giving federal law of 10 minutes.

Supervisors are pretty chill but if production rate goes bellow 90% they question but thats normal in all industrial work. 

Be careful though! If you work here you are eligible to be mandated to work Saturdays if they need you, they go for the lowest seniority first, it's apart of the union contract unless you can get 48 hours by working 2, 4 hour shifts before or after work.

Learning the mill which is the hub of the feeding system bring everything in conveyors mix and then use computer feeding system to feed the soys that was the hardest to learn, the smell of the barns was terrible and had to use charcoil fitler mask at times,

At KSR International they give you the opportunity to succeed. There is plenty of room for advancement if you so desire. Management is very comforting and urges you to be your best at a pleasant pace. The hardest part of the job is trying to separate the work/life balance. When you enjoy your career this much, who wouldn't want to continue on past working hours? I enjoy coming in every day with a smile and a greeting from most employees. There is a great feeling of success when leaving for the day and knowing you make a difference.

I worked on an assembly line at work and learned to operate different machines; and package product according to specifications. The hardest part of the job was coping with the few co-workers that felt they were all that. The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing that the other co-workers that I worked with felt the same way(a few bad apples). I knew that I could go to work; work hard; and have a paycheck at the end of the week.
