I have learned so much management skills, skills in writing standardized procedures, policies and procedures, workflow and standing orders, interpersonal skills, population care management of chronically ill patients, teaching skills, quality care improvement, how to develop, initiate, implement and assess gains of a projects. I have been trained as an improvement advisor with certification. Effective partnership with Union/Labor leaders, staff as well as managers and physicians. Management team are OK to work with. Co workers across the organization are very helpful and supportive. Unpredictable after hours, weekends and holiday schedule as needed. I enjoyed working with 65 ambulatory departments (primary care and specialty departments) as their consultant for clinical practices in ambulatory care.

What is the best part of working at the company?
As a Regional Nurse and Educator, the enjoyment was seeing my staff at seven communities. Each and every time, I get excited at the entrance door knowing my day will be great!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Trying not to delayed due to the traffic in and out of Atlanta

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Each community had its own personality. All communities were nice, respectful and always welcoming education and audits.  Excellent rapport with each community!  We always worked as a TEAM. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Driving to my community where in some cases it would be a 1 1/2 hour drive each way. Once I enter the community, I meet with the Administrator and the Director of Nursing and we discuss how I can of service; audits, training

Kaiser Permanente is a great organization but every organization has their key issues.  The organization continues to excel in meeting the needs of their patients by providing good quality care.   The issues surround middle management's approach to change.  They can improve the wave of change through better communication at the middle management level.  Some positions are 'ambiguous', which leave staff members in a quandary regarding individual roles and responsibilities. These lines should be clearly defined when it comes to your position and or title in order that everyone understands their role and their expected contribution making for a more cohesive team.

Compensation is great. I believe the union can make nurses forget why they became a nurse. It is saddening. Medical insurance is wonderful. 

I recommend Kaiser if, (my belief) you can stand up for what you believe in and are able to remind yourself why you became a nurse. Have the strength to tell the Union Rep that she knows nothing about patient care nor why we choose this profession: to lend a hand to those in need.

 Or, if you are someone who just cares about making money and doesn't really care, then you will fit in with Union beliefs.

Just think about what is important to you as a health care professional.

Kaiser says "own it" but don't you dare owning it. You would regret it. I have been celebrated as an outstanding manager who did great things for Kaiser to grow, but later treated horribly because I have intellectual property with other businesses that do business with Kaiser - even though that was disclosed and deemed no conflict of interest by Kaiser. In short, Kaiser isn't what it claims to be and no where close to what you think.
That said; there are many good and hardworking people working for Kaiser. They are not the issue, Kaiser is.

-Handle Cash bag
-Assist Kaiser members with checking in for appointments, answer questions any patient may have.
-Process lab orders for patients
-Answer telephones
-Take in patient forms such as FMLA, Disability, And DMV packets and send them where the primary Doctor is located.
-Communicate back and forth with Nurses to provide exceptional patient care for members.

kaiser permanente is one of the leading health care in the country , i am fortunate to be one of their employee . I have been working for kaiser for the past 11 years . i decided to get another part - time job because i have to much in my hand , I felt that I could be helping an individual that needed my experience . am a very dependable employee with excellent attendance also trying to get a job close to my residence .

The most enjoyable part of the job was being assigned challenging projects while learning and growing outside my comfort zone. Everyone is nice but the business units can be somewhat silo'ed having independent departmental data systems without universal platform integration.

KP Culture is one of double standards - leadership set goals and deliverable that are not realistic and yet expect teams to deliver. Heroic behavior is a core competency of this culture and yet are not acknowledged or rewarded. Also the culture places more importance on being nice as opposed to results. This is a tough place to work shrouded in nicety and pleasantness.

Just a typical 8 hour bedside nursing care, and for the clinic you set up procedure for physician to exam patients.
I really didn't anything except politics.
No comments on the management
Not the greatest group of Co-workers to work with.
The hardest part of my jobs is, just trying to do my job period.
It was not the enjoyable job period.
