This was a stressful place to work and you could not depend on a class opening or any back up from the management. You are not rewarded for your degree or experience. You are constantly forced to take new training, workshops, and seminars without compensation.  Some last a week or more. They will take a class from you and give it to a faculty member without warning.  There is no loyalty to the professors or respect of any kind.  This is a terrible company to work for. They refuse to give recommendations for anyone and it is impossible to have contact with those in management. There are no benefits.  Your work hard, teach your courses, and there are crickets at the other end. There are no raises are moving up in this organization. 

If you refuse to teach a course you do not feel qualified for or the class seems completely useless. They will punish you by withholding classes from you for months at a time.

The role of the Student Ambassador is to be a positive role model and mentor to other students. This is achieved by assisting staff with translation issues; listening to students concerns and forwarding them to the services they need; sharing their experiences of studying in school; and assisting with the delivery of activities that take place in school. In addition, Student Ambassadors also represent the wider student population and attend regular meetings with Kaplan staff in which they feedback any comments or concerns on behalf of students. Student Ambassadors are also asked to provide input into decisions that are to be made in school if appropriate.
The most enjoyable part of this job is the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and share with them.

Work day consisted of :
Answered students' questions at the main desk
Uploaded students information into main website
Placed international students in groups according their English level
Filled documents in a safe place to find them easily and quickly.
Created a friendly and inviting English speaking environment for international students

I learned how interact with people from different culture, manage time and work under pressure. Co-workers in the company were friendly and helpful. When I started to work for the company it was the hardest part of the job. After some time work became more familiar and ease to me. I enjoyed the most ability to travel with students. We went to Santa Monica beach, Hollywood etc.

I was an online English teacher at Kaplan. I really enjoyed my time teaching there. Although I never got to meet any of my coworkers, I received a lot of support from them through email and other communication platforms.
 
The environment is very fast-paced. There are new students joining the class every week. Hoever, the material we taught was designed in a cyclical way, meaning there was a certain amount of material we taught in a 10 week period. After the cycle was complete it started from the beginning. This helped us with integrating the new students in the class knowing we did not have to worry about covering previous material.  

A typical day involved managing staff and teachers, teacher roster, monitor classes, overlooking condition of classes and center, customer service, hiring and training, accounting, marketing, sales, inventory and sourcing suppliers.
My job involved managing and coaching my staff and teachers to help improve performance and help them use their strong skills. Helped motivate students and coach them on dealing with stress. Trained teacher on handling touch situations in classes.

This school is well established in the ESL industry, which provides for a certain level of stability. The local management team is very understanding and flexible, but heavily regulated by the higher, corporate management. The work assignment is based on seniority - there is not a lot of room for advancement based on merit. Teachers are required to do a fair amount of administrative work.  The most enjoyable part of the job is an opportunity to meet and work with students from all over the world.

A typical day at work involves reviewing performances of examination invigilators and planning examination schedules for the various modules taught at Kaplan. I also revised its Invigilators Guide and participated in occasional supervision of invigilators and in reviewing examination misconduct. Prior to examinations, examination scripts submitted by lecturers have to be reviewed for relevance, spelling and grammar. There wasn't much time for socialising as workload was quite pressing. Management had a light touch.

Kaplan is a great place to work and learn. I had the opportunity to develop professionally, collaborate with supportive colleagues, and gain valuable experience in an international and multicultural environment. The team culture is positive, and there are many opportunities to improve communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills. Overall, it was a meaningful experience that helped me grow both personally and professionally.

hybrid work arrangements (2 days office, 3 days wfh). work load/ culture is dependant on departments. salary wise on the lower end. no AWS, have yearly variable bonus depending on performance roughly abt 2.5 months. fringe benefits such as flexi benefits $1000 a year. exec level starting leave 14 days, will add 1 day fr 3rd year onwards. 2 days parent care, 1 day birthday leave.
2 months of notice period for termination.

At Kaplan Test Prep, being a student ambassador means communicating efficiently with clubs, promoting the brand on social media. The workplace culture is fantastic because it allows me to work with like minded individuals also interested in marketing.
